Jimin smiled, reading the letter from Yoongi. It was incredible how he managed to find a way to send him a letter back, despite the weird circumstances."Forever yours, Yoongi..." he sighed after he repeated the intimate phrase again and again, his heart fluttering at the feeling. Something about calling Yoongi his, made him want to fly around in circles, crying it out loud for the world to hear. His, he belonged to him, like Jimin belonged to Yoongi! He shot up in the air, giggling to himself. Then he clutched the letter to his heart, falling backwards to the ground, a fern leaf catching his figure and slowly gliding him to the ground. Jungkook sat on a rock nearby, observing the scene unfold in front of him.
"Dude, you really gotta stop doing that, otherwise one day you will just break your back by being careless," Jungkook said, frowning at the giddy commander.
"It's hyung, you brat," he scoffed, "anyway, I just received a reply from Yoongi! Can you imagine, he found a pigeon to deliver it to me!" He gently grazed the letter, as if scared that it would disappear if not handled with enough care.
"That's really cool, hyung." The brown haired fairy smiled at his friend, though his smile did not last long. "Do you.. are you aware that you may not see each other for months.. maybe even years? You lead two different lives in two different worlds! Do you think you can work it out?"Jimin's wings fell at the words his best friend spoke. Of course he was aware that him and Yoongi were on different continents, not to mention that they were different creatures.. A human and a fairy? Only one case in all fairy history occurred where such a relationship worked out, though the fairy's partner died three years after growing wings for five years.. Jimin only heard legends but would never want Yoongi go through the pain and suffering of growing wings.
Yes, it was indeed possible for creatures to "become" fairies.. though it was an incredibly difficult and timely process. Not to mention that it had a low chance of survival. It would be incredibly selfish to even think of asking Yoongi to do such a thing, to abandon his life, his family and friends for this risky transformation. Though, he could not simply abandon his village, who has become family to him..
"What're you thinking so hard about? Even your wings have become flassid," Jungkook said, suddenly appearing next to Jimin, stroking his hair. This action calmed him down, like it usually did, though the pain remained.
"You're right Kookie. Our relationship would never work out.. we're not destined to be!" Jimin felt a few tears escape his eyes. "After all, the protocol of human and fairy relations forbids such relationships for a reason.."
"Jiminie hyung.." he embraced the older fairy tightly, feeling as he started shaking lightly, "shh, shh. Calm down, we will figure something out. You are one of the most intelligent and hardworking fairies I have ever met, and Yoongi is of similar characteristics."He continued stroking the fairies golden locks as the latter tried containing his sobs and sniffles.
"You're Jimin. The greatest commander YMN has ever had, your wittiness and smiles have even reached the districts of Africa. Remember all the letters from districts asking you to become a lieutenant commander and help them with their districts? It's all my Jiminie with his charm and amazing work abilities!" This made the fairy choke up a strained giggle, and Jungkook continued further."We all see how much you two love each other. Hobi is also noticeably less cheerful than he ever was. But seeing that Yoongi even sent a wild pigeon to deliver you a letter, he is a keeper." The younger fairy lifted his finger to wipe the tears falling from Jimin's face. "So don't worry, we will think of something. We will have to, I can not stand seeing you in such pain. Even if I must break the rules, I will make sure of your happiness. Can you smile for me?"
Jimin looked up at his best friends words. Though he smiled, it triggered more tears. This time however, they were happy tears. Such friendship they had he would not trade for the world, and he was so lucky to have Jungkook's support.
"Thank you Kookie, you always know what to say to make me feel better, I love you."
"I love you too, don't ever forget that. Now, how about you write him a reply? You don't want your Yoongles waiting for it, do you?" Jungkook smirked seeing how Jimin cringed at the nickname.
"Don't ever say that, only I'm allowed to call him names."***
Yoongi came back to the park a week later with all sorts of bread, just like he promised. Was he sure that the pigeon would comeback? No. Nevertheless, he made a promise and he was going to keep it. He approached the tree and sat leaning against the trunk. He winced at the cold wind blowing his way. It was nearing winter and Yoongi didn't exactly think to dress warmer. He shoved his hands into his light hoodie, looking at the lake with a few ducks cruising along. The golden rays on sun and the warms tones of the sky mixed together from the ripples the ducks created in the water. He watched as the rippled expanded, intermixed, flowed in all directions. It was hypnotising and calming, momentarily distracting him from his other surroundings.
When suddenly he heard some flapping and felt a weight on his knee. He saw a familiar black pigeon land on Yoongi's sprawled out form, a rolled out tube tied to his foot. Gasping, he reached for the paper and read it that second. Smiling widely, he diverted his attention from Jimin's neat handwriting to the bird in front of him.
"You really did deliver it huh? Thanks buddy." He smiled at the pigeon who calmly stared into his eyes.
"Oh right, here, since you fulfilled your part of the promise, It's only fair that I fulfil mine."He began unwrapping all the different kinds of breads with different fillings, "which of these do you fancy? I have ones with sesame seeds, plain milk bread, whole wheat, even the expensive one made with rye and all sorts of nuts and seeds..." he observed as the pigeon immediately began pecking at the expensive bread. "I'm not surprised," he chuckled to himself, and re-read Jimin's letter.
A warm, soft feeling flooded his guts at the kind words and loving names. Somehow, as long as they heard from each other his soul felt at piece. Naturally, he would prefer to see Jimin's smiling face every second of the day, but this could do for the meantime. He could only wonder what the future would bring...
Heyyy.. you can scold me for the month-long break, this time I actually was busy with extra-curricular activities that I'm NOT doing next year.. too much time and effort and minimal reward. Anyway, I was having a small writers block with this chapter, i dont know if you could tell. But I figured I had to push myself, or I'd never do anything. Next chapter will be coming sooner, with more inspo (hopefully)
