CHAPTER 1: TATTOOED WINGS

" Mother, may I ask you again, what exactly are we doing so far from home?"

My mother glared at me.

" Eve, turn into your mortal skin. The humans aren't used to seeing angels walking among them. And, as a response to your question, we are here for a meeting of the super naturals discussing the demon problem. You should know that they have murdered an entire pack of werewolves, approximately fifteen vampires, three fairies, and a family of humans. Normally this wouldn't spike any of the Council of Da'vid's interest, but there was an injured angel as well. Also, there should be a gourmet lunch served at the meeting. That is why we are so far from home."

A gasp erupted from me. " That is awful mother! Why didn't we hold a meeting much sooner than this?"

" I know, Eve dearest. The angel was bitten in the leg, it was almost fatal."

Did my mother really just say that one angel's life was more important than the rest of the supernatural population?

" Mother, with the most respect, one angel can't seriously be more important than that of an entire pack of wolves." I said as we walked down the streets of what I assumed was the mystical-yet confusing and utterly lacking elegancy- human world.

She just sighed and stated, " I am not having this conversation again," Mother looked to her right and to her left before gesturing for me to follow her down a dark alley, " Before we go into the meeting's location, turn into your mortal skin. The other super naturals do not deserve masking in an angel's beauty. We have already lowered ourselves to their mortal standards by just being here."

I reluctantly nodded. I felt my wings collide into my back burning a mark where they once were. Every angel's mark is different, much like their wings. After changing to my human skin, I was left out of breath and gasping for air. Turning into a human was very difficult and taxing on my body.

Apparently satisfied with my appearance, my mother continued walking down the abandoned alleyway.

We walked in silence until she reached an old brick building that ended the narrow passageway.

Mother looked at me. "Go inside," she said without an expression.

I stared at her blatantly.

"Mother, what are you talking about? That is a brick wall. A solid building made out of brick! There is no door right here and I don't see one, did you perhaps hit your head on the flight over here? It was quite a long traveling distance, maybe you're just tired and seeing things. I-"

I was cut off abruptly by her pushing me into the wall. I braced myself, expecting the hard side of a building, but was thrown into a lobby of a hotel.

....................................

My mother entered the extravagant hotel a few seconds after me.

"Mother, mother, look at this place! Look at the ceiling! This is all so incredible! Do you see the chandeliers? Or the furniture? Everything is just so white and shiny! Wait, how did we get here? Where are the other super naturals?" I said, rather quickly.

Mother sighed, " I do have eyes, darling. I see everything just like you do. The color white is showing that all of the super naturals are united, and white is the absence of colors. To answer your first question, witches and warlocks put a void spell on that brick building, causing anyone one who touches it to be transported into the secret meeting location. As for the other supernaturals, look around for their colors: Gray for wolves, Black for vampires, Pink for fairies, and Gold for angels. Meet me in the conference room when you are done."

I was overjoyed! At the Palace of Nev, where I grew up, I was allowed to research the other super naturals, but I have never actually seen one in person. Besides angels, of course.

I made my way down the hallways of the hotel where I found five doors painted black. Vampires, I realized. I swiftly knocked on the first door.

A young woman opened the door. She was dressed in a black dress and black high-heeled boots with a choker around her neck. " Can I do something for ya, hon? If not, I really should be getting back to sleep. It's still daytime, ya know."

"Of course! I'm so sorry for bothering you. I just wanted to meet you and say hello. I'll be going, then." I said, embarrassed. What kind of person doesn't know vampires sleep during the day? Stupid.

After saying goodbye to the nice vampire lady, I quickly jumped into the elevator and stayed there, until I decided to get off on the fourth floor.

Now making my way down this floors hallway I came across another five doors, this time painted grey. Wolves, I thought. This time, I knocked on the second door.

No one answered.

I knocked again, this time a middle-aged man opened it. " Hello." He said in a gruff voice. I immediately sensed his dominance.

"Sorry to bother you, Beta, but I just thought to remind you that the meeting starts in thirteen minutes." I blurted, clearly making it up on the spot.

The Beta gave a hearty laugh. " Thank you, but I think we remembered."

I nodded at him, then started my way back to the elevator.

"But your tattoo is nice looking! Very mysterious!" he called after me before he shut the door.

I was confused for a moment, but then I realized you could see my angel mark on my back since I was wearing a black tank-top.

It does not look like a tattoo, I chided. It's a burn mark on my skin, showing where my wings go.

Just then the lunch bell rang, signaling the start of the meeting.

................................

My mother was the first to speak.

" As you all know, we are here to discuss the little incidents that have been happening to each of our species. Now we know that they have been associated with demons from The Great Down Under. Or, The Underworld, if you will."

"Incidents? Incidents? MY CHILDREN WERE MURDERED!!" A woman sitting next to the Beta I had met screamed.

"And whose fault was that? Hmm? Definitely not the Council's fault." My mother replied, calmly and unfazed.

"Perhaps my brothers and sisters in blood wouldn't be dead if the Council actually did their damn job instead of sitting on their thrones and acting superior to the rest of us!" A vampire seethed.

" Or maybe the Queen of the Fae would still be with us today if just one of you were there!" A teenaged fairy yelled.

My mother looked bored. " I assure all of you, the Council will get right on it after attending to our wounded." she sighed.

"You mean the one angel who got bit in the leg? Wasn't he fully healed last week?" the Beta scoffed.

" I can tell you he is physically fine, but mentally he is not. Let's just say you are all lucky that your loved ones are dead." Mother announced.

" LUCKY??!! That's it you foul, loathsome, evil-"

The woman was cut off by the demons that just rammed through the ceiling of the room.

And that's it! The first chapter in my first book on Wattpad! I will be updating soon, hopefully.
