It's my wife's birthday and I've decided to do something nice for it. I decided to take us back to where it all started for us: Pop's Lake Campground. That is where we both first met each other. I thought a nice trip down memory lane would be a great way to celebrate her birthday. I only told my wife that we were going on a trip for her birthday and to pack some swimwear, but I never said exactly where we were headed. Long story short, she was excited for the surprise.
When we arrived at the campground, she was so happy that this was her surprise. We had a tent site reserved for a few days so we were prepped to have some fun. Once the site was set up, we decided to start off with just relaxing by the fire for awhile.
"So, did you like your surprise?" I ask. "Oh I love it. I can't believe you set this up just for me." she replies. "Of course I would do this. You're my wife and my future child's mother. You deserve to feel special." She just smiles and cuddles up to me. She then speaks up, "How about we go to the main office and grab some snacks?" I agree and we walked there, but as we were about to reach the office, we saw a familiar face coming out of it.
"Leah!? Is that you!?" Caitlin screams as she dashes to see her old friend. "Caity?! I haven't seen you since the wedding!" she responds and she comes to her and gives her a hug, then noticing the bump in Caitlin's stomach. "Wait a minute? Is that what I think it is?" My wife simply nods as she rubs the bump. The area was then pierced by high-pitched squeals of delight. "OH MY GOD! You're having a Mattlin baby!" I walk over to them and hug my wife. "Yes, now please don't scream again or our baby will come out deaf."
We eventually went to the place where we first met, up on the top of the sand hill at the ball field. Eventually, we began to talk about what we have been up to since our wedding. She had not been up to much, just the typical same-old same-old. We only told her about our progress with the baby and about what we intend on naming him or her. She was a bit surprised that we had a small back-and-forth on baby names, but we ended up settling on either Vincent Lester for a boy or Phoenix Liliana for a girl. Leah was hoping for a girl, just because. However, we both don't really care what gender the baby is, we will be happy with whatever we are gifted with.
The rest of the trip was spent just hanging out and spending time with each other, whether it was at the each, in the woods on a walk, and just at the site. On her birthday, she received a new outfit of a t-shirt that says "Super Mom"and some maroon sweatpants, some new lingerie (a silk black nightgown and matching black panties, and a stuffed animal. My wife even got to have her birthday cake, but in a special way. Though that is a story for another time. We were both upset that we had to go by the end of it, but we remembered that we have some upcoming events that would provide the opportunity for some more romantic time together.
