The leaves were tasty.

Serenity lay there, on the ground, in the middle of the woods. She was wounded and a little confused. Her memory was going fuzzy. She picked up another leaf from the forest floor and placed it on her tongue. Then she remembered who, exactly, she was, and what she was doing.

When Serenity was seven, her father died in his sleep. She mourned, and she ended up taking care of her mother and her sister. She grew up with no friends at all. She learned to hunt, even though it was against the Govern's rules. She saw what the Govern did to bad people. They beat them and locked them up, and accasionaly, killed them. But Serenity had to risk it, for her family.

Her little sister's name was Eviline. She was twelve now, and Serenity was eighteen. She had dark brown hair that was held in a long, loose ponytail, and she didn't normally wear shoes. She was a sweet, yet annoying, little soul, and she helped out in the bakery for spare coins. Serenity's mother wasn't much. Her name was Belle, and she mostly stayed home and did what was needed there.

One day, the Govern came unexpectedly to Serenity's little town, called Phillepes. The town was just a little village, really. Nothing much. The Govern hardly checked in on the citizens of Phillepes, but when they did, it normally wasn't good.

What Serenity didn't know was that they added a little secret security cameras in the forest where Serenity hunted. They saw Serenity shoot and kill animals, and take them.

The Govern was coming for her.
