Just A Bit Since Written

Hello everyone,

It's been four and a half years since I published the first part of Thank You, Oliver. I am rarely on Wattpad nowadays, only on here when this platform somehow comes across my mind every few months, and I only visit it when I am curious to see what has happened.

I've received many, many messages of grief and gratitude for publishing this. Two people asked if they could translate it to Turkish. One asked if it could be used for a school play. And another said that after reading this, she immediately came out to her best friend and have been together ever since (since when, I'm not sure, but I wish them all the best).

I regret not coming clean about this in the beginning: I am not Jake. This story is not true. Oliver, to my knowledge, is not real. All of this was inspired by other works I read on Wattpad at the time, news articles that I had discovered online, television shows & films, and most likely a bit of sad songs. And yes, I alluded to Frozen in one of the chapters. Reflecting back, that may have been a little cheesy.

However, I do not wish that this dampens the depth of the short story. I still hope that readers can see the challenges that some people face and can empathetically relate it to their individuals of their own lives.

Be kind to one another. If there's one message that I hope you can take away, it's exactly as Oliver said. "We all need a friend to take us through the tough times."
