The moment you lie you fall into debt.
The moment you steal you go further into debt.
The moment you kill you get buried in debt.
Your sins are debt.
And in death, your debt must be paid.
Only then will you reach salvation.

A man in his early 20's swipes his card over the vending machine.
1, 071, 994 , the small screen displays before the number climbs to 1, 072, 294. The machinery hums and an item is dispensed on the tray below the screen.
A chocolate bar.
The man grabs it and begins peeling the wrapping. He steps aside to let the older man standing behind him use the machine. He bites a chunk off, ignoring how it only tasted mildly sweet and felt like chewing on sugared cardboard.
"Whoa. 1 million points?!" the older man couldn't help but exclaim, catching the number before it vanishes on the small screen. He looked at him with eyes filled with shock and hints of pity, "What did you do, kid? Did you kill the pope?"
He contemplated answering him as he swallowed, "Yes. I stabbed him with the cross around his neck"
The older man laughed, "Kids had gone crazy ever since I passed" he swiped his card on the machine.
105, it showed as he chose the cheapest item in the list. A cup of water. 155.
"What's your name, kid?" he took the water on the tray, taking a small sip.
"Saviour"
The old man laughed again, "You know lying adds 10 points to your debt"
"It's the truth" he deadpanned, taking another bite of his chocolate as they walked through the busy hallways where souls, angels and demons alike sauntered to and fro, going to their own destinations, "What about you, old man?"
"Roy"
"Is that your Life or Death name?"
"Death. It's been too many years since I've last heard my Life name. I'm afraid I don't remember it anymore" there was sadness in his tone.
"People tend to forget who they are when they're here for long" Saviour absentmindedly looked around, looking outside the floor to ceiling glass windows where he saw towering metal skyscrapers that climbed until they were out of view.
"Do you still remember yours?"
Saviour turned to him and without a single change in expression he said, "It was Bastard"
Roy laughed heartily, "What kind of mother names their son such a thing?"
"The kind who doesn't know the father"
Roy laughed again as they walked into the Collections Department.
"I'm in Section H" Saviour pointed to the hallway leading right.
"Then this' where we part then. This' probably my last trip as well" Roy's debt was only 155 and since they were given 100 points per soul. He only needed 2 and he was freed from his debt forever.
"Enjoy Nirvana, Roy"
"I will, kid. Do you think they really have 72 virgins up there?" he asked excitedly, a childishness twinkling in his eyes that was out of place with his 40+ appearance.
