Sal jolted as his eyes opened. He wasn't in his room though, he wasn't anywhere. All around him was complete darkness. 'Where am I?' He thought to himself. He couldn't speak, it was almost as if something was clogged into his throat. He stood up and started to walk into the darkness, a figure came to view. It was a woman with long blonde hair, her face not showing and her back faced Sal but he knew exactly who it was. "M-mom?! Is that really you?" He finally muttered out, his throat no longer feeling clogged. She turned her body around to face Sal, for a moment, just a moment, she was beautiful and smiling, her long blonde hair seemed to be blowing in the non-existent wind. But as soon as Sal blinked his eye she became a horrific sight. Her hair was matted with blood as if it was cracked open, blood ran down her once beautiful face that now seemed to be ripped to shreds. "This is all your fault!" Sal took a step back, he did a full 360 turn and began to run. "Sal?... Sal!!!" He heard a familiar voice in the distance. It was Larry, "Larry!" Sall yelled and kept running before...
Sal jolted awake.
"Sal?? Are you awake? Come in, Sal?" He looked over at his walkie-talkie that was going off like crazy. What time was it anyway? He looked at his clock. 5:52 am. Sal grabbed his walkie-talkie and held the talk button, "L-larry? Hey, what are you doing up? Over." Sal asked, there was no way he was going to sleep after his nightmare. He couldn't get the image of his mother out of his head, he missed her so much and now it was so much worse.
The walkie clicked and beeped, "Hey Sal, my dude. I can't sleep, I've been calling for about 30 minutes now. Wanna head down here and hang out until it's time to head out for school? Over." Larry spoke, he sounded tired. It made Sal worry slightly, Larry always slept in. He never would just, not sleep. Sal brushed this off for now and beeped back, "Yeah, I can't sleep either thanks to you waking me up." Sal joked, "I'll be down in just a bit, let me get ready first." Sal put the walkie down and got out of bed. He changed his clothes wearing the usual oversized sweater with some skinny ripped jeans and blue sneakers. He grabbed his prosthetic and walked to the mirror, clipping his "face", as he would call it, onto his head. Sal then put his hair into ponytails, he liked the way they looked on him, but it made him think of his mother once again. She was always okay with Sal doing his hair however he liked and dressing up however he liked. He missed the days when he wasn't judged based on his looks. He brushed those emotions off and grabbed the walkie again. "Hey Larry, I'm heading down there now. Over." Sal grabbed his bag and flung it over his shoulder. Before he left he heard the walkie go off once again, "Took you long enough, see you soon. Over." That made Sal chuckle and smile slightly behind his mask. He walked out of his room into the living room, it reeked of alcohol and his dad, Henry, was passed out on the couch. Sal plugged his nose and exited the apartment quietly.

Sal put the key card into the elevator, Lisa had given him one since he goes to their apartment often to hang out with Larry. The elevator dings once he gets to the bottom floor. He walks into the apartment and knocked on Larry's bedroom door before walking in. Sal usually just walked. Larry was sitting on his bed playing video games, shirtless, he was shirtless. This, for some reason, made Sal blush behind his prosthetic. "Hey Larry, put on a shirt, no one likes to see your hairy nipples." He grabbed an SF hoodie from Larry's laundry basket and threw it at him. "No need to be aggressive about it, Sal. As far as I know, you like my hairy nipples and can't look at em' cause they turn you on." Larry joked playfully and wiggled his bushy eyebrows as he put the hoodie on. "Come sit and play with me." Larry handed Sal the other controller. The two started to play some off brand fighting game, the graphics were purely terrible but it was still good, quality time with his best friend. Larry ended up beating Sal, which makes sense since Sal doesn't play video games as much as Larry does.
"Wanna go for another round?" Larry asked and Sal shook his head, "You're just gonna beat me anyway, so why even try?" Sal chuckled and got up. The time was now 6:40 am. 20 more minutes until it was time for school. "So, Sal are you okay? You seem kind of, out of it today." Larry had a concerned look on his face but didn't look at Sal. "I don't know what you mean.." Sal lied, "I've been fine." He shrugged. "You should get ready Lar the bus will be here in 15 minutes." He said not only to warn his friend but to change the conversation topic. "Yeah, I guess I should get ready, huh?" Larry got up and started to change his clothes. Sal knows it shouldn't bother him but seeing his friend in just his boxers made his heart skip a whole 10 beats. Once again Sal brushed off his emotions.

Sal and Larry stood outside and waited for the bus. Once it came the got onboard and sat in the very back across from each other. The bus stayed mostly quiet, other than Travis. Travis was never quiet, especially when Sal was on the bus. "Hey faggot." Travis turned towards Sal to face him. "Travis, I do not feel like dealing with your shit today." Sal turned his head away from the bully. That seemed to quiet Travis down, at least for now.
