Odette's Prov

It's a cold someone could get used to. It's a darkness that is heavy yet weightless but also almost visible. The lights cut through it barely as we had descended to the depths of the cannel. Our suits were designed to be heavy enough to get down but not light enough to float up. Like the mass of water around me I was feeling consumed by this experience. Like the missions we've faced before this one, I wouldn't think id be involved in in a million years let alone have the belief that I could. For now I am at the bottom of Le Seine.

"I think this is the end to were the blockage is coming from." The communicator in my helmet whizzed out. I could feel the water around me desperately yet slowly want to move in this direction.

"You think? Are you close enough to see what's blocking the exit?" Emile comes in from up top.

I pear forward, but my light only makes out the ridges of the round gaping channel exit.

"I'm going to move in a little closer" I state, sifting my limbs through the void in mute, fluid motions.

"We're a couple meters behind you. We might see something if all our lights are focused in one direction" Raouls voice fizzes in though. I had to give it to him that sometimes he did have sensible ideas.

"Over" I replied back but then my eyes caught something. It was movement at the corner of my eye. Something had tucked itself into the thicker bleakness inside.

I move forward a little more, the water soundless around me as I am just inside of the tunnel.

I shine my light but there's just black. But the light doesn't go through it, it looks solid yet endless at the same time, like black velvet. It feels alive.

My light catches a fold in the velvet. It ripples and bunches but then the folds come apart to revel a black glassy refection almost like a circular mirror that my torch reflects directly into.

"Something is moving...I don't know what this could be..." I say to myself but it still goes through the communicator.

"Stay were you are, we can shed more light on it" Lucille's voice come through.

I would have chuckled at her pun if only something that felt thinker than water but just as smooth hadn't wound around my waist and tug me deeper into the tunnel.

My loud, distressed gasp from the pull must have notified my teammates as their voices came in asking if I was alright or if I found something but their questions were silenced by an all consuming moan like a low siren that vibrated through the water surrounding.

The thing around my was doesn't seem smooth any longer as I feel as though im getting pricked by hundreds of thorns that are not yet puncturing the strong material of the suit.

I look away from the orb that almost looks like its staring back to what could only look like a velvet snake raped around me. But its not a snake, the texture is plush and blubbery, sleeker than anything. I glance at the end of the appendage o see round openings down one side and in them round rows of those white thorns.

Two light sources fade in from behind and I'm graced with the bigger picture.

The mass of oblivion, that was the blockage of the Seine, was in fact what I've only seen in textbooks. Or was it a storybook. Was this the so called Kraken?
