David's P.O.V.
"I'm just a simple man, I don't ask for much. Do I? I don't even know anymore" as I say glancing at my mirror. I just sit there on my bed thinking about..... I don't even know what to think anymore. I walk out my room and see that at my door, there is the newspaper. I pick it up and take it over to the kitchen, and then read it while I eat. "Local civilian David Smith has finally been released from Barnabe's center for the mentally ill. Whether or not he'll be staying with family or on his own is still unknown" read the article.
It's been a full year since the incident, and I can still replay it over and over in my mind. Then it finally hit me. "Who am I really?" I asked myself. Then I heard a knock at the door. As I walked over to open it, I asked myself "who would be knocking on my door at 5 in the morning?". When I opened the door, I was astonished at what I saw. This beautiful blonde woman, she looked my age. She was gripping her side for some reason. She then staggered forward and said " please help me, I've been stabbed. please help me, please " I just stared at her, she then collapsed. I brought her into the house. As I carried her to my bedroom, I noticed how beautiful she was. "Where was she from? What was her name?" These questions popped in and out of my head frequently. I walked into my bedroom with "her" in my arms. I called the woman "her" since I didn't know her real name. I lay her on my bed and grabbed a rag and started to clean the wound. I felt her forehead, she was burning. She must have gotten a fever due to so much blood loss. Taking care of her reminded of a time when I used to help my little sister when she scrapped her knee, my life was so much easier and better back then.
