Based on a klance thing i saw somewhere

Michael sighed, his chest moving with the action. I smiled a little from where I sat on his legs, the side of my head on his chest, my face turned away from his, his heartbeat gently pounding in my ear. My fingers absent-mindedly fiddled with the fabric of his hoodie, my eyes starting to feel heavy.

A yawn escaped me, ans I tried to cover the sound with my hand. Once the motion passed, I put my hand on Michael's on his other side, taking his fingers in my own and randomly toying with his digits.

"How'd I ever get so lucky?" he sighed, causing a smile to appear on my face. His hand squeezed mine, and he shifted so his free arm was now wrapped around my waist, holding me close.

"Is that a real question?" I asked teasingly. "I could list a million reasons I'd rather be here with you than with anyone else."

His heart started to beat faster and louder under my ear, causing me to laugh a little bit. He let the question go unanswered, perhaps too embarrassed to say anything else. Instead, he just continued to mess with my fingers, his thumb rubbing the back of my hand soothingly, soothing me into almost falling asleep.

I managed to keep my eyes open, even though the lull of a sweet nap was ever present. Although getting some sleep sounded nice, I would have much rather stayed awake with Michael and enjoyed his presence.

"Hey, I have something weird to ask you," Michael said, the sound registering in my ears and snapping me out of my tired daze.

"What's up?" I returned, voice a little groggy.

"Why do you always lay down like that?" he asked. "I mean, from here, it looks super uncomfortable, but you always want to do the same thing."

A couple of thoughts ran through my mind about the best way to answer him. With a little smile, I turned so that I was facing him, my head still resting on his chest.

"Well, it's not as uncomfortable as it looks," I admitted. "Besides, it's...I don't know, kind of a weird thing."

He didn't talk, maybe giving me a chance to gather my words so I could continue. I chewed my lip, thinking about what I could say.

I moved away from him, turning to sit so that I was facing him. A hand was placed on his chest where my face had been, and I smiled at him. "I can feel your heartbeat," I said, watching as his face went red. "When I feel that, it sort of reminds me that...all of this is real, you know? Like, this isn't some crazy dream that I had, I'm actually with you."

A thudding under my fingers made me smile as I moved closer.

"Your heart's beating faster," I stated, and he turned away.

"Shut up," he mumbled, his cheeks turning pink. I laughed a little, taking my hands to grab his.

I took one of his fingers and placed it against the pulse in my neck, letting him feel how insanely fast my heart was beating. "It's not just you," I told him, watching a gentle smile show on his face.

He freed his hand from my own, taking my cheek and bringing me close for a kiss that completely melted my heart. I was living for the rush I felt when his hand grabbed my waist and pulled me closer.

"I love you," he muttered softly after he pulled away, a grin still sitting on his face while I buried my face in his red hoodie.

"I love you, too."
