I leave my office early today because Sarah has her lunch by around 2:30pm.
I park my car in the parking lot and enter the restaurant. "Bonnie's place".
"Hey Michelle" I greet one if the workers. She's just a high school student, although she's in her senior year now.
She smiles at me and waves. "Bonnie's in the back if you're looking for him"
"Ah, thanks" I nod my head making my way to the back.
"And Sarah's had her lunch" she adds.
I freeze, my heart sinking into my stomach.
"Just joking" she makes mocking kissing gestures at me.
Very funny.
"Ah, Paper boy!" Dave exclaims loudly. "just who I was looking for"
"Afternoon Dave" I said pulling out a chair to sit.
He stares at me and I'm confused so he smiles to the pen he is playing with, in his hand.
"You know you can't really be a worker here Justin"
His words sink into my head and I'm disappointed.
"Why not?"
"Cause" he states. "You're my friend, and you have a job"
"Dave!" I'm about to argue but he's right. So I just fall back into the seat. "Okay"
"Thank you". Dave says gratful I'm not dragging the issue pointlessly. "But you can serve Sarah Baileys her lunch" he gives me that look. "if you want"
"I'm gonna hug you" I warn him and he starts rolling his chair backward to avoid me but a catch him like a fly and envelope him in a long tight hug.
"Uggh, stop this Justin, you're like seven hundred years old now"
I laugh at his remark and I'm about to leave the room but he calls me back handing me an apron.
"Thanks man".
...
I anticipate Sarah arrival like a father does whilst his wife is in the labor room. She night be the both to a new opportunity for me. One I don't have to screw up.
The bell rings for the twentieth time and finally, it's Sarah.
I wait for her to take a sit, then shrug off all nervousness from myself.
It's been a really long time since I last flirted. At least with a girl and not in my head. Since my emmm...mishap, that is.
"Hey, hey, pretty lady" I make my way towards her and her face lights up. Good influence? Yay or nay?
"Hey Justin" she says. "Are you going somewhere after?" She asks.
"If I'm going with you, then yes Ma'am"
"Very funny..." She smirks.
"Why though?"
"Oh, you just have..."
Damn it! I'm still in my suit shirt.
"I like to look classy" I smoothen my collar. Well I actually do like to look classy. "Can I take your order or is it unchanged?"
"Hmm...I'm not really hungry..."
"Aww, what? Why?" I protest. " How can you not be hungry?"
She laughs. "I just decided to stop by and say hi to you" she has a cute smile on her face.
Kinda reminds of a six year old girl, smiling sweetly, and innocently whole asking for a treat.
"I've had frozen yogurt at work. S lot"
"It'll melt" I state and she just laughs.
And there it goes. Sarah and I laughing and talking about ourselves over lunch.
She's a really interesting person to talk to. And she laughs very easily.
