As the day continued on I grew restless of just filing reports, so I decided to look up Elijah on Facebook, I was certain there couldn't be too many attractive guys like him named Elijah. And just like that, his name was first on the list, Elijah Hart. Wow, cute face, cute name, and unfortunately for me, a cute girlfriend. As I was getting deep into the internet stalking, a got a text message.
'Hey, so, you uh, didn't come home last night? Are you ok?' You had got to be kidding me. I was definitely not ok but something told me I had to reply.
"Actually I did go to the apartment. It's not my home anymore. I'll be over to grab my stuff later." I had never been filled with more anger and rage. I wanted to scream and fill the room with as much rage as what I was feeling.
"Please, baby, don't do this." I could not believe her right now. So I blocked her number. I blocked it and cried. I cried so much. This woman was the only person I had ever truly loved. I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her, to grow old and sip tea on our balcony together. To get married and both of us wear beautiful dresses that make my cousin gag on hers. To share my hopes and dreams and to love them out with her. And just like that, it was all gone. My dreams and desires gone. I couldn't wait for tonight to get my stuff, so I went now. I drove over there, ripped my keys out of my bag and went up the flight of stairs. I went into the apartment and started packing my stuff when I heard a knock at the spare room door. I lifted my head and sighed, a tear rolled down my check. I wiped it away before Rose could see it, she never saw me cry, she was always the very emotional one in the relationship. I turned around to see a red and flustered Rose. Her dark brown hair, a mess of curls, her eyes and nose pink from crying. It made my stomach churn. I had never felt worse, but there was nothing to do besides resume packing and leave.
"Please, Hera. Just stay and we can talk-"
"TALK? TALK ABOUT WHAT? how you cheated on me? I don't think there's much to talk about there, Rose."
"I'm sorry! It was an accident! I was drunk and I didn't know what I was doing!" Rose pleaded. But I was riled up and angry.
"Well I hope you know who you were doing because maybe you can spend the night with her!" I shouted. I had finished packing my things. "I've got to go. Goodbye Rose." I took my key of my key chain, I placed it on the kitchen counter and left. The moment the door shut tears came streaming from my eyes. I took the elevator because I couldn't carry these bags down the stairs. Once I reached the ground floor I put my stuff into the car and drove away. I drove back to Genessa's house and she was home. She helped me get all my stuff into the spare room, or my new room. Once all my stuff was unpacked I fell into the bed and cried. I had only cried this much in my life after my mother had passed away. And after that I had Rose there for me, right now all I have is Gen, and even then she has to work and so do I. So I really do just have to push on and try to not let this get to me in public. Genessa and I had pizza for dinner and we just spoke. She told me about her day, she was the doctor of the family, so her day was always stressful. After dinner I went and had a long shower. I thought about today and wiped my tear stained eyes. I dryer myself off and went to bed. And that night I dreamt of all my greatest hopes and dreams. They were all true and it was beautiful, I was in a pool of tears when I woke up to the sound of my alarm. I dragged myself out of bed and got dressed. I threw on jeans and a t-shirt, I didn't need to look good seeing as though I spent most of my day in a dark laboratory with no one besides the occasional officer who brought me evidence to analyze. I went to the kitchen and just grabbed some snacks. I grabbed my bag and headed out the door. Genessa didn't start until 11 so she got to sleep in a bit longer than I did. Luckily for me I could walk to work from the apartment so I did. It took me 15 minutes and I got there just on time. I clocked in and started to head upstairs when I heard a very familiar voice.
"Hera?" A soft masculine voice like no other. And just like that I turned around and standing there was someone I never expected to see in a police department let alone in uniform.
"Oh. Uh, haha hi. Elijah right?" We stepped out of the walk way.
"Haha yea hi. Wow I did not expect to see you here."
"Yea same here." I looked at him. He was in full uniform and I was in something most people wear around their house and still feel ashamed of.
"So, what do you do? I'm assuming you're not here for a felony." He giggled.
"Haha nope. No felon here." And awkward silence. "Actually I'm a forensic analyst. I was on my way up to the lab, I could show you around on my way?"
"That would be great!" He sent an empathetic smile my way.
...
After I showed Elijah around we finished at my lab which was very dark and I now realized it smelt kind of odd to someone from the outside.
"Well I'll leave you to it!" Elijah exclaimed. He seemed like a very happy person, and I because a very happy person knowing I would get to see him more often.
