Miranda stood, shaking, and reached over to turn her alarm off since she wouldn't be needing it anymore. She felt her forehead, it was hot and sticky with sweat. Whatever, nothing a shower couldn't fix.
Miranda stripped and stepped into the shower, still feeling an awful sense of dread from her nightmare. Did it really mean anything? Could it just have been her mind trying to spook her? She didn't want to think about it, she just wanted to get dressed and see her favorite aunts.
Miranda closed her eyes and took a deep breath as she dried off, trying to forget about the nightmare. She quickly got dressed in her casual clothes and followed down stairs towards her mom's voice.
Before Miranda had a chance to look up, she was met with a couple of gasps and hugs. It smelled like expensive perfume and cat fur.
"Miranda! My sweetie! How are you doing today? You've grown so much." But before Miranda could reply, she was jerked down into an arm chair across from her grinning aunts, Tina and Bobby Pomfrey.
"Oh my precious! We've brought you a gift, hopefully your mother won't mind." Tina said as she smirked and made wide eyes towards Miranda's mom, who frowned and looked down.
"Oh, I don't know why out of all the gifts you could bring her you had to bring her THAT, but I suppose if she really wants it, then she can have it."
Miranda bit the little of her lip, waiting in anticipation. For a moment her mind was off her nightmare. She watched the wriggling bag next to her aunt's side.
"Ok honey, I'll let you decide." Said Bobby as she grabbed the gift bag by the strings and handed it over to Miranda. It jumped in her hands and didn't stay hidden for long.
It was a little milk and cream kitten, just a little younger than a week old. If she was honest, Miranda was never fond of animals, but she did like cats. She grinned and put a hand on her cheek, while scooping the kitten up with her other hand.
"I love it! Thank you so much."
"Well, what will you name it?" Asked Tina, clearly happy that Miranda liked the gift.
"What's something else that's black and white." Miranda wondered out loud. What's a good name. A name. A name.
All of the sudden, Miranda was bombarded by images of the model from Beautycave in her mind. She felt her stomach lurch and put her hands on her head, the kitten hopping onto the arm rest beside her.
"Honey, are you alright?" Asked Miranda's mom. Miranda swallowed hard and looked at her mom with a slight smile and nodded. Now Miranda knew she couldn't last the whole visit with her aunts.
Miranda's aunts stayed for a couple more hours just catching up with Miranda and her mom. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, they left. Miranda breathed a silent sigh of relief and sat in the kitchen with her mother for a few minutes while she made dinner.
"You can go ahead up stairs, it'll be a few minutes before dinner is done." Miranda's mom said, not looking up form her frying pan. Miranda cracked a smile and lifted herself of her seat. She traveled up stairs to her room and sat on her bed with her laptop.
She took a deep breath and opened her thread. There didn't seem to be any new crucial activity, so she got on her mainstream media and looked at some updates and stories from her classmates at school. What she saw gave her a miniature heart attack.
Left and right her classmates were talking about her post. Everyone was coming up with conspiracy theories and rumors.
"There's no way that MIRANDA did this"
"whatev, fake news"
"but,... its a possibility????"
Miranda let a whimper escape her lips as she leaned back. There was absolutely no way she could go to school tomorrow. She would never see the end of it. Surely this couldn't escalate more than a harmless school rumor?
Then, another thought struck Miranda's mind. How did they even figure out it was her? She used one of her nicknames that only one of her closest friends, Peter, knew.
...
Peter.
He gave her nickname out. He ruined everything for her.
She couldn't let this get any further, there was no telling about all of the details that Peter could give out to the school, the teachers, the principle, maybe even law enforcement.
Everything rushed through her head as she tried to come up with a solution to her problem, but only one solution was in sight.
She had to get rid of Peter.
