Controller in hand and eyes on the screen, the young woman sat on the couch. She couldn't help but feel someone was staring at her actions. Her head turned to the figure leaning over the kitchen counter. He sighed at her with an annoyed look.
"What do you want, Cady?" His deep voice echoed in the quiet room.
"I was just seeing what you were doing." Cady spoke softly, a nervous quake in her voice.
"Well you did. Now you can go back to playing whatever game that is." The man sighed while running his muscular hand through his burnt umber hair.
"It's --, do you wanna try and play? The girl asked with a hopeful lilt.
"I don't need to try, it's just some game made of pixels and coding; I'm pretty sure i'll get it." He said while standing up from the counter.
The man sat down next to Cady. His strong build towered over Cady's chubby figure. She handed him the controller with a soft smile, pointing at a button.
"So you'll wanna use this joystick to move the-"
"Yeah, yeah. It's just a game, it can't be that hard." The man stated coldly.
"Geez, you don't need to be so cocky, Satan." Cady leaned on the arm on the couch with attitude before pulling out her phone to play a game.
Satan leaned forward and resumed the game. He began to figure out the controls with the character. Right trigger slash, left trigger guard; the controls were typical and easy to use. Fighting enemies had been easy at first. Dodging attacks then hitting them when they were vulnerable; He chuckled to himself as points began adding up.
"See? I told you I got this." His fangs peered through his cocky smile.
Cady smiled deviously as he basked in his confidence. She looked up on the screen with a knowing grin before looking back down to her phone.
"Wow, you were right; you're pretty good." Cady said unamused; though her face told another story.
"Oh don't go pouting now, I used to play games sometimes." Satan nudged her with his knee.
The cocky grin on Satan's slowly faded as enemies became more numerous. His relaxed posture tensed up while his fingers mashed hastily on the buttons. Cady only glanced up for a moment while he fought the boss enemy she had been stuck on before.
Satan whipped his head back in annoyance as the character fell, prompting the death message. He hit continue before trying again at where he left off.
Yet again, his button mashing was to no avail; the character died once again. He muttered under his breath while the screen loaded. Cady ignored him while she played on her phone a bit longer.
Satan felt his horns protrude from his head as the death music played once more with the taunting text popping up. He finally laid back with an aggravated sigh before setting the controller down on his knee.
"How the heck do you beat him? That's just ridiculous!" Satan huffed to himself.
"Once the boss charges, dodge him, then strike him with your sword." Cady said nonchalantly while tapping the game on her phone.
Satan picked up the controller again and hit 'continue' on the screen. He came up to the boss arena and initiated the fight. The boss did his usual small attacks at first. But suddenly, the beast charged up a sprint to go after the character. Satan dodged with a combination of buttons, then attacked with a charged slash while it recovered. He kept it up with dodging and attacking when it was vulnerable. The health bar was quickly depleted until it finally died in a haze of sparks.
"Hey, you did it!" Cady said with a soft smile, setting her phone down.
"Finally, that was a lot harder than I thought." Satan chuckled with a bashful head scratch.
"Yeah, but you beat him after a couple tries; he's a really hard boss." She grinned happily while sitting up.
"I'll admit, this game isn't as dumb as I thought. Honestly, it was really fun." He reluctantly handed the controller back with a smile. "Here, you can have the game back."
"Keep playing, you seem to be enjoying yourself." Cady giggled softly while pushing his hand away.
"Are you sure? I could learn more watching you play." Satan asked hesitantly, his cheeks flaring up.
"Actually, this game is split-screen. We could play together if you want?" She asked with a hopeful lilt.
Cady looked at him happily, she noticed a different look in his eyes. Satan seemed much more calm and relaxed while talking to her. His eyes lit up even more when she suggested playing together.
"Yeah, that would be fun." Satan said with a hint of excitement.
"Okay! I'll go grab the other controller!" Cady got up with haste and walked over to the console to grab the other controller.
