A thin layer of white covered the soggy ground. Autumn showers had drowned dead leaves and dirt into a muddled mixture of decay. Though nature had began its transition into winter, its occupants kept with tradition. Laughter could be heard even through the layers of trees. Children ran dressed in playful attire while parents followed with a watchful eye. Teens sometimes joined kids in the street or even threw parties with a whimsical dress code. The more independent teens and adults would stay inside, keeping all lights off, inside and out.

What was originally supposed to be a night of trickery and facades, now was a quirky night ripe with memorable moments with family and friends.

While people gathered together for a fun evening, the young woman stood in the woods alone. Her pale fingers ran through her chocolate brown hair while sighing once more. The curled tousles of hair fell into place to frame her face. Her blonde tips began blowing again in the cold wind.

The brunette felt herself become frustrated. Tears welled in her eye while emotions and memories became too much to bare within.

"Why must I suffer?" She yelled out into the sky. "Why have you abandoned me God? Where is my guardian angel?"

Her voice echoed into nothing.

"Everyone says you guide people through life, that you help them in their darkest hour, but where are you?"

Nothing but the rustling of branches could be heard.

"Where were you when I was breaking?" When my family fell apart? Why won't you answer me?"

Nothing.

"What? Do you want me to beg? Go down on my knees?"

The woman screamed in frustration to herself before falling on her knees.

"Did you do this because I don't believe? Because I gave myself credit before bending to you?"

The woman paused a moment.

"Was it because I have no faith? Is this my punishment?"
