 Friday 9:31 PM

"I love you." He kissed her gently.

"I love you too." She returned the kiss with a smile.

"See you tomorrow?"

"Yeah. See you, Benjamin." She backed away. He cringed.

"You know I hate that." He smiled goofily at her. "Samantha."

"Ugh. Okay. It's Sammy. I'm sorry Ben." She kissed him again and began to close the door. He stuck his foot in it, suddenly worried.

"I love you, Sammy. I'll see you tomorrow." He whispered the last part.

"Yeah." The door shut, and something in his heart cracked.

"Bye Sammy." He whispered to the door, heading to his car, ready to go home.

Inside her house, Sammy slowly trudged up to her room. Once inside, she shut and locked the door, heading to her bed. Tears began to run down her face as she remembered that days events.

"You little bitch. How dare you date Benjamin. He's mine. You're worthless. Dump him, or we will end you. Oh wait, we don't need to. You don't have a life you little nerd." They sneered.

"Hey. Leave Sammy alone." A new voice joined.

"Oh look, it's the little faggot. How's the gay life, Liam? Still a sad little slut? No one wants you. Why don't you die already?" Beth shoved him. Tears ran down his face. Liam was like a little brother to her. Something inside her broke, and she slapped Beth. Beth stared at her, hand holding her now red cheek.

"You little bitch." Hands grabbed her hair, dragging her into the bathroom.

"Sammy!"

"It's okay Liam. I'm fine!" No, she wasn't. This constant bullying had broken her. Only Liam and Benjamin were keeping her afloat. She faded in and out of consciousness as they kicked her, bruised her.

"Maybe next time you'll think." The next thing she knew, Liam was over her.

"I'm sorry Sammy. I'm so sorry. We have to tell Ben." No. No telling Ben. He'd see how weak she was.

"No!" She didn't mean to shout. "No. Please don't." That was quieter.

"Sammy..."

"Please don't Liam. Please. I don't want him to see me broke. Please." She begged.

"O-okay," Liam mumbled, hugging his older sister figure tightly.

"I love you, Liam." His head snapped up

"Don't say that."

"What do you mean?"

"It makes it sound as if you're going to leave me. Please don't leave." More tears ran down her face.

"I won't leave you, Liam." She lied, trying to instill hope into his heart. He hugged her tighter.

"I love you, Sammy." He whispered as they sat in that bathroom and cried together.

9:36 PM

Samantha stood suddenly, her mind made up. She wrote her feelings down on paper, telling everyone goodbye. She slowly limped to the bathroom, grabbing her mother's sleeping pills. She almost ran back to her room, locking the door. She changed into her favorite dress and did her hair. Then she made her bed, making it pretty. A glass of water was set on her nightstand. She lay in the bed and spread her hair out. Carefully, she opened the pills and took all of them. She closed her eyes, and let the peaceful darkness overtake her.

9:47 PM

Benjamin found Sammy's purse on the seat when he drove home. Instead of just giving it to her tomorrow, he decided to bring it to her now. He began the ten-minute drive back to her house.

10:00 PM

He rang the doorbell. Nothing.

"Sammy?" Normally she was still awake. He tried the doorknob, it opened. That wasn't good. Sammy always locked the door. He quickly made his way upstairs. Sammy's parents were gone for the weekend, so he knew she was home alone. Knocking on the bedroom door, he heard nothing. He knocked again. Nothing. He slowly put his hand on the doorknob, dread piling in his stomach. The dented door opened without a squeak.

"Sammy? You there?" She was lying in bed. But something was off. She was wearing her favorite dress, the white one that went to her mid thigh. The off-shoulder sleeves were positioned perfectly. With her hair curled around her peaceful face, she looked like an angel.

"Sammy?" He saw the pills next to her, empty.

"Sammy?" His voice grew more frantic. He realized she wasn't breathing.

"Sammy. No. No. No." He repeated the word, over and over, as if could change reality. The full moon shone on a piece of paper, the purple words glowing in its light. Carefully, he picked it up.

Benjamin,

You always hated it when I called you by your full name. I love you. I'm sorry you had to find me like this. I couldn't take it anymore. I can't tell you why I did this, but you can ask Liam. The poor boy has held so many secrets for me. Tell him I'm sorry, and that I didn't mean to leave. Move on and find someone better than me, someone, like Beth. She tells me every day that I am not worth it. That I don't deserve you. Lately, I have been thinking that is right. But not only do I not deserve to have you, but I also don't deserve to live. I'm sorry I wasn't strong enough. Tell my parent's it wasn't their fault. I'm sorry.

-Samantha

His tears choked him.

"No!" He screamed at her. "You can't be dead! I just saw you!" Quickly, he ran downstairs, grabbing the house phone. Trembling fingers dialed the police.

"911, what's your emergency?" A calm voice asked.

"S-she's dead!" His voice was enraged.

"Who? Sir, you have to tell us what's going on."

"Sammy. She won't w-wake up."

"Deep breaths sir. What do you mean she won't wake up?" The voice grew in authority.

"She k-killed herself with her mom's pills. Please. P-please, help her."

"Sir, what's the address." After rambling off the address to the operator, he fell silent. He carefully made his way back to Sammy and sat on the floor beside the bed.

"It's okay Sammy. It'll be okay. I love you, Sammy. I don't love Beth. I love you. Why'd you leave me Sammy? I wish I had helped. I'm stupid, aren't I? Oh, Sammy..." He fell asleep, hand clutching her cold dead one. When the paramedics arrived they saw pure peace between two souls in love, one now gone.
