Nova's pov
There are a few emotions around this table. I hear people screaming out of excitement but also people cursing under their breaths. I didn't know the play was so serious. "Of course Christopher and Erik gets to be in it." Someone said who sounded more annoyed instead of glad. They always get the biggest parts and... it isn't a show without them, honestly. But I'm also sure that some of the girl are crushing hard for those two. Like last year both of them got so many notes and flowers after their first show it was so cringey that it was adorable. We still aren't sure if the notes were written by actual people liking Christopher and Erik or that it was just a bunch of trolls. It sure made Erik's ego rise. I know that Dawn is about the costumes and Gavin is a bit of everything. He mostly does light and sound but he also helps people with their script and change it when needed. He is a pretty good actor but he never wants to play a part besides being backstage. It took me forever to reach the table but when I finally did I had a hard time finding my name. Which is a good thing! "Oh, thank god. I'm not in the..."
Wait.
At the bottom.
Written in the most beautiful handwriting.
'Nova Lelie Pine'.
Shit.
It's probably some kind of mistake. Right?
I blink a few times. But my name is still on the paper. "Who's Nova Lelie?" Someone asked. It sounded like a que to leave the table.
Class starts over 10 minutes so I will have enough time to announce it to the others. I join them at one of the table by the cafetaria. "And did you get a role?" Dawn asks me as I sit down. "I... Yeah. My name is on the paper." My face felt hot for some reason. She was sitting... really... really close to me. A smile appeared on her face, which made me just blush even more, and she applauded out of excitement. "Yes! I knew it!" Dawn gave me a quick hug and chuckled. I didn't know Erik was paying attention since he seemed to be focused on his phone but he glanced at us and frowned. "I wish you were excited as that whenever you hear we are in the play." She gave him an raised eyebrow. "Is that so? I will think about it for next time. Besides, you two didn't even check." Erik shrugged and nodded at Christopher. Who was watching some show on his phone, of course. Gavin sat next to him. He clearly didn't enjoy whatever they were watching. "We always get in the play so I don't even bother looking at the thing." The bell rang and let us know that our first class starts. With a sigh I stood up and as we all took our paths to our classrooms.
My first class is with Gavin. English. And he's damn good at it too. I know he writes poetry and sometimes stories too but he never really lets anyone read it. Sometimes we could read a paragraph from one of his stories. Everyone besides Erik loved it. Since it was about a world with dragons and Erik hates everything what has to do with fiction. He needs something realistic and with facts. I tried to focus on whatever the teacher, Mr Fredericks, was saying but I kept being distracted by how Gavin kept writing something down en erasing it. With a frown I try to peak over his arm to see whatever he's writing. "What are you doing?" I whispered to him.
His eyes are golden
The way they shine all over
I wish you were mine
"That's adorable." I think Gavin just noticed me looking. He immediately closes his notebook. His cheeks turned a bit red and I softly chuckle. "Isn't it a bit rude to just look at people's writing without asking?" The tone in his voice was annoyed. It honestly made me feel bad about it. "I'm sorry... But he probably likes you too."
