this is super short but i just wanted to post it since i havent posted in awhile, i hope you guys enjoy!!!
p.s. thanks for reading my story :'))
I stand next to Ezra outside on the pavement as he's taking a look inside the hood of my car which is parked in the parking lot in front of our dorm building.
Awkwardly, I shift my weight from foot to foot with my hands stuffed in my pockets to keep them from freezing and I try to think of something to say as it's far too silent for my liking.
"Why are you so antsy over there?" Ezra calls out to me, peeking his head from outside the hood of my white beat up car. The cold wind blows all around us, making the curls peeking out under Ezras maroon colored beanie he always wears ruffle slightly.
A little embarrased I give a shy smile, shaking my head saying and tucking a lock of hair behind my ear and saying, "Nothing, just too quiet."
Ezra stands up straight and makes his way towards me, "You're not too fond of silence, huh?" he says with a small chuckle and stares out me with those beautiful eyes.
His hair is curly and looks so soft I want to reach out and touch it, but I refrain from doing so and look past him at a tree in the distance instead and reply, "Nope, can't stand it."
Ezra smiles and shakes his head, "You're strange."
Slightly offended I gasp and give him a slight shove, "Rude much?" followed with a laugh I couldn't contain.
Ezra mocks my offended facial expression which he pulls off way better than me might I add and says, "Me? Rude? Excuse you, but I'm the one figuring out what's wrong with your car." He then gestures to my car which still has the hood open.
I roll my eyes, "Uh huh, sure...have you figured out what's wrong with it?"
Ezra walks back over to the hood of my car and closes it, "Yes, you need a new battery, as well as an oil change. When's the last time you changed your oil?" He asks, crossing his arms and raising his brows.
Oops...shit.
"About that...." I say awkwardly laughing and twisting my hands in front of me, "It's been awhile."
Ezra gives me a dazzling smile making me melt. God help me.
"Yeah Eleanor, I can see that, you really should get it changed more often."
I simply shrug my shoulders, "Yeah yeah."
Sighing, Ezra pulls his phone out of his jacket pocket and says, "I'm gonna go call around and order your battery replacement, wait here?"
I simply nod my head and Ezra walks a little ways away.
I look at the old brown bricked building and my mind starts to wonder.
I can feel myself falling for him, which I know I shouldn't, but he makes it so easy, despite his ever so frequent mood swings. Which then makes me wonder what's going on, who is he always on the phone with that makes him so upset?
I want to learn more about him, but I have a feeling he wouldn't like that very much. He seems like the closed off type and it makes me worried that every second I spend with him, I'll grow closer to him, but only in a superficial way.
I doubt he even feels the same way, I'm getting too worked up inside my head. I need to think about something else.
Instead I look at the half naked trees blowing in the harsh wind. Fall is approaching fast and that simple thought excites me. Fall is my favorite time of year, the beautiful colors, the colder weather, everything about fall makes me happy.
I hear the thud of footsteps making their way closer to me and I look up to see Ezra putting his phone back into his pocket, "I ordered it and the shop said it should be in Saturday evening, they didn't have the one specifically for your car since it's such an old car."
I scoff, "Leave her alone, she may be old, but she's still great!" I say placing my hand on my car that I've had since I was 16.
Ezra laughs at me putting his hands up in defense, "Chill, but in the mea-"
"Eleanor, hey!" A loud voice yells out, cutting Ezra off midsentence and causing him to look past me.
I turn around to see my roommate walking towards us. I see that she curled her red hair today and is wearing a small black skirt and short sleeve blouse despite it being pretty cold out.
As soon as she walks over to us she greets me giving me a hug like she always does, and I like always give her a half hearted hug since I hate hugging people. That doesn't phase her kind and upbeat personality though as she pulls aways smiling and looks over to Ezra who's standing next to me.
I should probably introduce them.
"Hey, Claire! This is Ezra, Ezra this is my roommate Claire." I introduce the two.
Ezra gives a smile and lets out a small "Hey".
Claire gives him her huge toothy grin and gives a loud, "Hey!" then turns to me,
"What's going on?" Gesturing towards the two of us standing outisde in the cold in front of my car.
I explain my car situation and she frowns, putting her hand on my arm as if to comfort me, "I can give you a ride for the rest of the week, it's no problem!"
I hesitate, knowing she has a tendancey to show up late for class, even if at all and I'm about to tell her thanks but no thanks when Ezra chimes in,
"That's fine, I already offered to drive her for the rest of the week." Ezra turns to me giving his lopsided smirk, causing me to give one in return.
Claire looks between the two of us and slowly nods, "Oh- okay... "
"Yeah, I already agreed to let Ezra drive me, but thank you for the offer though, that's really sweet and I appreciate it." I say to Claire giving her a smile.
She perks back up and gives me a hug while saying,
"No problem! I'm gonna head inside, I'll see you later?" She says turning towards to go inside.
I nod my head and give her a small wave.
As soon as she's gone I turn to Ezra who has his hands in his pockets and his cheeks slightly red, from the cold I'm assuming.
I wasn't expected him to give me a ride this week honestly and I'm sure how it will go.
"You know you didn't have to offer to drive me right?" I say crossing my arms and raising my eyebrows. In response he just scoffs, rolling his eyes,
"Just thank me."
My hands falls to my side and I smile laughing lightly, "Thanks."
