After class I grabbed one of the information packets from Frau Sass.I quickly looked over the packet while walking to my locker.
For the rest of the day Charlie comes up with various and sometimes stupid reasons that I should host a foreign exchange student.By the end of the day I gave in and decided to be a host.
That night when my mother came home from work I showed her the packet. She was surprised when she saw what it said.Especially since usually I don't like talking to new people (which is why I don't have many friends).
"Why do you want to do this?"
"Well mom, Charlie told me I need more excitement in my life and I kinda agree with him. Everyday it's just go to school, come back home, do homework and then go to bed. I think it's time to mix it up a little bit."
"Are you sure you want to do this?"
"Yes I am 100% sure. It's not like we don't have the extra room anyway. They can stay in Jessie's old room."
"Fine if you really want to. I'll send an email to you German teacher later."
"Yeeesssss!"I said doing a weird victory dance as my mom stared at me like I'm a freak.
"Oh, You know you love me." I reply
"Sure..."
"I'm going to go tell Charlie about the news."
"Ok"
I then quickly walk over to Charlie's house and let myself in using my key. I
have had a key to Charlie's house ever since I was eleven so I always use that to get in. His family is used to me coming over at random times. As I walk in Charlie is sitting on the couch watching a horror movie while clutching onto one of the pillows from the couch. An idea then popped into my head as I watched him. I slowly creep over to him and stood right behind his head and screamed.
"Ahhhhhhhhh!" He screams jumping about 5 feet in the air.
At that I start laughing my head off, clutching my stomach as I laughed so hard tears start running down my face while Charlie sits there pouting.
"That was so not funny."
"I completely disagree."I say inbetween my laughter.
"So guess what?"I say to him once I've caught my breath.
"What?"
"My mom said that one of the foreign exchange students could stay with us."
"OMG" He says practically squealing.
"I know right, but the foreign exchange students aren't coming until next Friday."
"That sucks."He says with disappointment.
"Yeah well anyway I got to get going.I have a ton of homework to do"
"But you just got here! Please stay."
"I got to get started on my homework now or I'll be up until 3 in the morning working on Mr.Keller's book report we have to do."
"Their was a book report we were supposed to do?" He asked in confusion.
"Yes, you would know that if you were paying attention."
"Don't you get snappy with me." He replied sassily.
"We'll anyway I got to get going. See ya later."
I then walked back to my house.
The excitement seemed to build up as Friday soon came up. My mom and I sorted out the details before Friday. We decided that since Jessie's old room is not going to be used other than for the exchange student they can decorate Jessie's room however they want.
After school on Friday I went to the German class room to get the student and I got some info about them like medical needs, allergies, etc. I was surprised to find out that mine was a guy because usually they don't allow boys to stay with girls. I had a boy named Lukas. They provided a photo with the info.He looked really young in the photo.
The lady that was running the host check in told me to find my exchange student. All of the students that were German (French students stayed with people learning French, etc.) were in the commons waiting for their hosts so I started walking towards the commons.
I stopped at one of the bubblers in the hallway and as I was getting drink a boy approached me.
He was tan, had a chiseled jaw and he had an athletic body. But his hair was in an old Justin Bieber hairstyle which hid his face and he wore baggy clothes. He was still gorgeous though so I automatically started babbling like a idiot.
"Um, a h-hi." I said trying to look anywhere but his face.
"Hi, looking for commons can you show me where?"He asked me curiously with a heavy German accent.
"Oh a-are you o-one of th-the f-foreign exchange s-students? I asked him curiously
"Ya" he answered
At that point I agreed with the voice in my head that I need to stop talking so I don't embarrass myself more then I already did.
So I simply said "Follow me."
I started walking towards the commons and he followed me quietly.
We got to the commons and the boy and I approached the foreign exchange student check in/out desk.
When we approached the desk the lady exclaimed "Hello Christina! I see you've managed to find Lukas.I guess I'll just check him out then."
"So wait, you're Lukas?" I asked in surprise
"Ya," He answered
"Oh, well then let's go." I said awkwardly
I then led Lukas out of the school and towards the parking lot.
