Chapter 11

"Gah, why the basement?" Chloe shuddered. "I'm not going. Absolutely not!"

"Chloe, you have to stick with the group," Alya tile her, searching a door that could lead downstairs.

"But I don't want to go!" Chloe pouted. "Just take me to a room that's safe and I'll wait for you guys "

"That's a bad idea!" Marinette folded her arms. "No where is safe. What if some kids come and bang the door open and attack you?"

"Marinette... Are you worrying about me?" Chloe laughed as she recieved a glare from Marinette. "Fine I'll go, but it's just to make it out here alive."

Good, if we head to the basement, I might find a chance to slip away and transform. Easy peasy!

The girls and man then began the search. They took turns opening doors, and seeing if there were stairs that lead to ty basement. Yet, they found none after 30 minutes.

"Maybe they have no basement," Chloe said, kinda proud because then she wouldn't have to go down creepy stairs.

"Yeah, maybe," Juleka sighed and she sat down on the floor to rest. The other girls sat down as well, only the man stood.

"We only had doughnuts, now I'm pretty hungry," Mylene rubbed her growling stomach. "Do you think we can have some snacks?"

"I guess," Alya opened her bag, getting out the small cut out sandwiches her mom had made. She passed one to everyone.

As soon as everyone took a bite, they heard footsteps. They listened more as the footsteps got closer.

"Sand... Wiches?... Yum..."

"What?! How did they know we were eating?" Sabrina quickly stood up. "Can't we get at least 30 minutes to eat and rest without them interrupting?"

The others stood up as well. Some of them had finished their sandwiches by stuffing them in their mouths. The others held theirs in their hands.

"It's like they can smell whatever we eat." But then Marinette realised she was right. "Remember when we were eating doughnuts? That kid was saying he wanted some."

They turned to run as the kids got closer.

"They can smell whatever we eat wherever they are," Alya's eyes grew wide at the information.

"You mean to tell me that we will always draw attentions whenever were eating?" Mylene shrieked. She stuffed the rest of her sandwich in her mouth, and ran faster.

Chloe, who was one of the girls that hadn't finished her sandwich, stopped, and turned to the kids. "You want some?" She yelled. The kids slowly nodded hungrily. "Well then, here!" Chloe threw her sandwich at them.

The four kids are the small sandwich hungrily, and they turned to Chloe for more. But then the girls' eyes grew wide as something happened.

After the kids swallowed the little piece of sandwich they had in their mouth, they grew bigger.

"I don't think you're supposed to feed them," Alya backed away. "And I think we should run now!"

They turned around again, running to nowhere they knew of. The kids who had grown bigger, and also started running faster.

So the more they eat, the more they grow bigger and get more energy to run faster? Marinette went through the information.

"In here!" Sabrina yelled, banging opening a door. The girls, without thinking ran inside, and shut the door, locking it.

The kids banged on the door a few while as the man switched on the light. Then the banging stopped, and they heard the kids walking away, the footsteps dying down.

The girls and the man turned around. And found themselves looking down at the stairs that led downstairs.
