you are a star
in my slow and startled morning
with my sallow darkness hanging overhead
and the sound of the wind quaking through the windows
you are a dot of light in the endless sky
but still i see you
i see you and wonder and love
and i am just a speck on the ground
you are a star
starshine light and the collision of millions, billions of particles
you are cosmic
life changing
i am sat in inky black darkness
cold and empty and with the shadows hanging just low enough to tempt the wanderer in me
while my heart walks the line between trepidation and impatience
i never know when to tell it to stop
and there is one bit of light in the sky
so far away i could never touch it
but a comfort all the same
in my moonless, sunless, midnight sky in the early morning hours
you are dreams and hope and the slightest taste of something more
and i do not know how to express gratitude when it tastes like grief
but i have never loved like you
and i don't know how to learn how
the emptiness is so much easier
and i am so sorry
i have never been so glad that you are so far away
it will be so much easier to forget me
little star
