I can't remember much from the last hour it's all just a hazy blur. I recall waking up to a shout that was far too close and far too icy for my liking. I got up and walked cautiously to the entrance of the small cave I had been staying in for the past week. Peering out the first thing I noticed was the high moon it must have been near midnight, the next thing I noticed was a rustle in the greenery followed by the silhouetted figure of a man roughly 6ft tall holding a gun but I couldn't tell what type. Creeping back into the cave I gathered my sleeping bag, clothes etc. and stuffed them into my small rucksack before slinging it over my shoulder and making a break for it. Running as fast as I possibly could without attracting attention.
In a stroke of bad luck which is pretty much the norm for me one of the hunters spotted me in his peripheral. "Hey, she's over here!" just as I start shifting a shot rings out in the air sequenced by a white hot pain in my shoulder. The force of the shot pushes my body to the ground.
Scrambling up off of the forest floor I attempt to ignore the feeling of sticks and rocks and dirt biting into the palms of my hands and my kneecaps, instead choosing to focus on pulling my legs under my body to sprint away. The bullet must have been laced with wolfs bane because it drained my strength slowly and then all at once, stopping me from being able to shift.
Blocking out all external noises I centre myself, listening to my own heartbeat as I push myself to run faster with each step even if I'm incapable of using my supernatural speed due to my lack of strength. I don't know how long past it could have been a minute or an hour but I let my senses guide me, following this explainable pull directing me to safety.
Eventually I skid to a halt in front of an old burnt down house in the middle of the woods, the whole area smells of wolf, smoke and death leaving me to wonder what happened here. I'm drawn out of my thoughts by my legs giving out from under me the last of my adrenaline draining away and allowing the pain and exhaustion to rush back in. I clench my eyes shut waiting for the inevitable contact of the ground beneath my body...but it doesn't come. Instead a warm pair of arms wrap around my body, supporting my weight. In a blind panic I thrash around as much as possible thinking that the hunters had caught up with me.
"Whoa, hey I got you. Don't panic your fine" the voice that speaks is soft, soothing and gruff and I just know that if I wasn't in such immense pain right now it would be exactly the kind of voice I would fall for.
Slowly opening my eyes I peer up at the man holding me, he has styled spiky black hair, blue-green eyes, a strong jaw, angular nose and full lips. "H-Hunters...help me." My voice is weak but I push the sentence from my lips before collapsing back into the man's arms. The last of my energy seeps out of me and everything goes black.
From this point onward I only got vague flashes of consciousness, the first consisted of a sharp pain in my shoulder but after that I would only see the man's blurry face or the burnt ceiling above my head.
A few hours later I am roused from my sleep by the creaking of floor boards getting closer and closer to where I'm lying. Three steps, two steps, one step. As soon as the person is in touching distance I spring from the bed wrapping my hand around their outstretched arm and bringing it behind their back before kicking the back of their leg and knocking the person onto their back. Holding one hand to their throat, the other holding down their arm and my legs straddling their lower body I flash my wolf face in form of a threat causinghis eyes to flash to their piercing blue in response.
The sight of my one blue eye and one red eye seems to shock him momentarily but the sound of my growling seems to knock him from his thoughts. "Hey, hey it's alright I was the one that found you in the woods."
