As Jade cleaned up the mess James left behind on the table and powered the television down, she decided now was the time to jump into a nice bubble bath and contemplated on which sad song she was going to turn on repeat. Music always told a story. The battle was to choose the right story to listen to. She pushed the play button on her bathroom speaker. Listening to the soft sounds of R&B always made her feel at ease. She opted out of the sad playlist and decided she needed to be comforted instead. She began to run a bubble bath and threw a couple of pink rose pedals in the tub to set a relaxing mood.

An Hour full of tears, sadness, and pity persuaded her that the redundant phase was now over. Shivering from the cold temperature of the now milky bathwater, she decided it was time to get out and find a nice rom-com to put her in a better mood. Skin red from trying to scrub the remnants of James from her skin, mind and most of all her heart.

Changing into her fluffy pajamas and disregarding the silky set she originally laid out she headed to the kitchen to open the bottle of wine she had been anticipating since the beginning of the morning.

Popping the cork, she felt a sense of relief knowing that her feelings would slowly dissipate with each glass she poured. Sitting on the couch she heard the "Ding" of her phone notifying her of a text message.

TELL ME YOU'RE NOT DRUNK YET- MISSY

NOPE, JUST OPENED THE BOTTLE GIVE ME AN HOUR- JADE

NOOOOOO PUT IT UP. I'LL BE OVER IN A HALF AN HOUR TO HELP YOU PICK OUT A DRESS- MISSY

OKAY-JADE

Jade knew there was no getting out of the impromptu girl time. Her best friend did not take "no" for an answer. Deciding a pre-game was in order she decided to keep sipping on her wine while getting the essentials together to go out. Knowing a half an hour was exactly a half an hour to her best friend Michelle, she decided to flatten her hair praying that the rain had ceased its attack on the city.

Jade and Michelle met at Princeton University, both trying to find their way around the campus, and had been inseparable ever since. Michelle was a true friend and a person that Jade could count on at all costs. Michelle lived about forty-five minutes away from her so between working and having a love life of her own, Michelle was only able to hang on weekends but that never stopped her from checking in on her best friend.  Jade, being the youngest sibling of two, clung on to her best friend like a little sister would.

As she finished the last touches on her makeup, she heard the front door open and close with a hard slam.

"What did I tell you about leaving your keys under the mat of the front door?" Michelle threw the spare key on the table making her way to the master bedroom where Jade was finishing her make up.

"I keep forgetting them places, so I have to keep a spare somewhere"

"Okay, you know how horror movies go, and I've seen quite a few creepy people sliding through the hallways. Stop it, Please?"

"As you wish" Jade spoke in a playful, high pitch voice to ease the tension.

" I'm just saying bub. If somebody came in here and did something to you, I wouldn't know what to do. Grieving the loss of my best friend and on my way to the pokey for murder"

"Okay, Okay. I hear ya. I'll stop and be more careful. Don't want my bestie in the pokey because she had to put somebody in order" Jade laughed getting up from the Vanity where she applied some light make-up consisting of some mascara and concealer to cover the small blemishes on her olive skin, topping off the simple look with a nude lip gloss. Michelle grabbed the Cosmopolitan Magazine that laid on the night stand and began to sit on the bed before she was stopped by a frantic Jade
