Diana's mother had told her that the werewolves tended to live on the outskirts of cities while humans live mostly in the center. Vampires, well, they live where ever.

Diana was now on the outskirts of the city and she could see enough wolves to make her nervous. There wasn't a whole lot of them considering it was still dark out, but it still unnerved Diana.

She got quite a few weird looks, too. After all, she was new here. Here being the wolf's den. And wolves don't like strangers that much. Some of the wolves growled at her in warning if she was too close for their liking.

There was this one house she passed by that immediately caught her attention. And more and more soon had her biting her lip enough to draw blood. This may be her first time around humans but Diana wasn't stupid. She knew why she was drawn to it.

It was like a moth to a flame. Her entire being wanted to find the source and bleed the life out of it. Somehow, though, Diana found the strength to not do so.

Diana was walking lost in her thoughts when all of a sudden she heard a loud "bang". Her head jerked up in surprise. She heard it before she felt it. And now that she felt it, she needed blood more than ever.

Standing in front of her was a dark figure holding a gun. And in that moment, the figure smelled as good as a meal fit for a king. She couldn't do anything to stop herself as she sucked the man dry.

Diana gasped and threw the man away from her as she gained back control. No matter how much she tried to deny it she couldn't help but think about how much she wanted more.

The unfamiliar scent and the man's blood had sent her into a daze. She felt high on that man's blood. But no matter how good it felt, she couldn't shake the feeling of guilt. She had killed a man. The first human she saw and she killed him.

Why did he shoot me though?

She walked towards the man, slightly unsteady but stable. She searched the man's pockets for any possible clues. She found two pictures. One of the man and a little girl.

He had a family..

The second one had her wanting to run. To run anywhere if it meant she wouldn't have to worry about her now inescapable situation. The man had a picture of her with her grandparents'. One possibility is that this man and a group of his friends found her grandparents with this picture. Which meant that her grandparents and her mother and father might now be dead. That his friends would be coming for her. Either to kill her or turn her in.

Another possibility, the higher ups of society already know. Maybe this man was just sent to confirm her identity. Maybe he was threatened into doing this. Maybe they were luring her into the city with her parents' live at stake. Maybe her grandparents really are dead now. Her father's parents had already passed before she was born and now she might be losing the only family she has ever known. All because she was born.

Diana let out a long and sad sigh. Even if they were luring her here, she had to know. She had to at least try to save them. She would regret it for the rest of her life if she didn't.

She stood, wincing as the pain in her abdomen reminded her of the bullet. She bit her lip as she pulled the small piece of silver out. She pulled her shirt back down as the wound healed almost instantly. She healed like a normal vampire at least.

She wrapped her navy blue cloak around herself and tried to push the thought the man out of her head as she walked deeper into the city. She knew she smelt like blood. That others would know she had blood on her. That she had two scents on her, the man's and her own blood. But she didn't have time to search for a place to bathe. She had to find her parents as soon as possible.

But Diana didn't know this city. Which meant it was going to take a while to find her parents without help. And she would have to take a rest sooner or later. She couldn't trust anyone though. Which meant help was not something she have. It also meant that inns were almost completely off the table.

She would have to find an inn that either house only low ranked people or almost just humans. Considering how she killed the first human she saw, she wasn't very fond of the second option.

So, her only rational option at the moment was to find an inn and rest. To gather her thoughts and calm down before she got herself caught.

With her temporary new goal in mind, Diana started searching for inn. She tried to stay more towards the outskirts of the city as she looked for one. The first inn was immediately cast aside as an option. Too many humans. She almost lost control just from smelling them.

The second one was almost perfect. The vampires were the problem there. They would immediately recognize her as one of their own. Thanks to their keen senses that was even better than a werewolf's. The third one wasn't much better.

The fourth one, however, was perfect. No vampires, and barely any humans. With barely any residents, The Moonlight Inn was where she was able to find rest.

Walking inside, most people were already in their rooms upstairs. Diana walked to the counter and asked for a private bedroom. She noticed the curious stares pointed at her but chose to ignore them.

The werewolf turned around and looked at her with worry, "Are you alright? You smell like blood."

"I'm fine, thank you. A man had jumped me on my way here."

"Oh. Humans aren't usually violent around here, but watch out for the vampires. They seem to think they're the boss of everything here even if they're lowly ranked. Here's your room key, I hope you rest easy tonight," she smile at me.

"Thanks," I mumbled.

A/N~

Changed her middle name to Nova because I didn't really like how Diana Anne sounded. I know there's a lot of mistakes in this chapter, sorry for that, I'll be editing when I finish this book. Which will most likely take a while simply because of writer's block and lack of motivation. I'll try to make the chapters longer, sorry for how short they are right now.
