I woke up with the sun shining in my face, my thin red curtains drawn spreading the warmth of the summer's sun in my room. I guess dad opened them in an effort to try and wake me up. I could smell the crispy bacon and eggs being cooked by my mother in the kitchen. Suddenly, I felt very hungry. I hastily threw the covers off me, digging up my blue flare jeans from the pile of clothes on the floor and grabbing my spotty, yellow polka dot blouse from on top of my desk. When I had seen the blouse in the thrift store, I instantly fell in love, although my peers think my sense in style is weird, they're just trying to keep up with the latest trends. My hand patted the floor in an effort to try to find my yellow hair pins, that kept the sides of my short, brown hair off my face which often left my fringe to be centre of attention. At last I found them and I untidily pinned them somewhere in my hair. My clean white socks laid on the windowsill, making them warm inside out. 'Where did I put my sneakers?', I wondered to myself. Typical me went into a frenzy trying to find my favourite, black sneakers. I launched myself out of my room, looking in the most logical place, the garage. I ran past my mother who seemed dumbfounded in the fact that 1, I was up so early and 2, I was running around her carefully cleaned house. "Robin? Come say good morning to your mother instead of making a mess of the place" she said, sounding slightly annoyed. 'Yes! Found them', I grinned when I found them laying around besides the door. "Coming mom!" I shouted. I sped back to my mother who was sipping on her coffee whilst reading some trendy magazine. "Good morning" I smiled at her. "Why are you up and dressed this early on a Sunday morning?" her eyes glared at my outfit. "I'm going to Abbey's house then heading to the cinemas" I said sheepishly. "Oh are you now? You haven't said anything about this to me" her face grew stern. "Mom, I'm sixteen. I don't need to be treated like a kid" I whined. "Just don't be home too la-" before she could finish her sentence, I was already out the door. My red bicycle was in perfect shape, I couldn't drive yet so I'd have to ride to Abbey's house which is near school, on the other side of town. As I turned the corner, I noticed the moving van drive up towards the rural end of town. 'I wonder who could be moving here?', I thought. My legs began to ache from peddling up the steep hill but I insisted to see who'd move into Langston, our small town. There in the driveway to an our wooden house was two older people, who were grabbing boxes from the back of their blue station wagon. "Lynette, could you help us out? This is going to your home too" the man asked to the figure in the car. As I hid in a bush, I pondered about what does Lynette look like? Was she nice? How old was she? With a slam of a car door, out got a tall, athletic looking girl. She looked as if she belonged in the magazines my mom reads. Her thick, curly, dirty blonde hair stopped right at her shoulders and her curly side fringe covered most of the left side of her forehead. The girl wore a white, lacy singlet that showed her stomach along with some hip-hugging black jeans. I was in a trance of how beautiful this girl really was, forgetting that the top half of my body was easily noticeable. It took me a second to see her eyes glance at me, her dark eyebrow raise. 'Oh goodness, I'm an actual spaz!' I thought. My heart was pounding as I speed off down the hill to Abbey's house.
