Peace is what I feel when I opened my eyes and looked at Oliver.  I smile at the memories of the night before. As I close my eyes to drift back off there is a banging on the door.

"Oliver get the fuck up!" Olivia sounds terrified.

"Hurry and get dressed Lizzy," Oliver whispers.

The banging continues as we rushed to get dressed. Oliver opens the door letting Olivia storm in. She grabs my collar and pulls me towards her.

"What have you done human?" She growls at me. Oliver pulls her away and the grabs me sliding mr behind him.

"Olivia, what is wrong with you?"

"The king is pissed, now I see why! You've sentenced my brother to death,  human!"

"What?"

"You humans are weak and stupid apparently."

"Olivia, enough!"

"Oliver, he'll kill you and you know it. Why would you do this? And for her?"

"Get out Olivia. I'll take the consequences if I must but I don't regret it. I knew marrying Malaci would taint you. What happened to my sister?"

Tears begin to form in her eyes and she briskly turns and storms off.

"What are we gonna do?"

"Shh, it's ok..."

"No it's not," I interrupt him. I grab his face and make him look at me. "We have to run, so he can't get you. Please. If he kills you..."

"Too late for that Elizabeth." Samael entered so quietly, neither one of us knew he was there.

"Your majesty," Oliver bows his head.

"If you're expecting me to bow, I won't."

"Don't get brave Elizabeth. I let you stay here, made you one of us. You must follow the same laws as all the subjects." The look in his eyes freezes me with fear. So I bow my head.

"Oliver, you have taken something that is not yours."

"And it's not yours either!"

"Lizzy, just stop ok?"

"Where is it?"

"You don't deserve it."

Oliver is smacked to the ground. The impact was so loud. I try to check on him but hands grab me and hold me back. Malachi. Oliver spits out some blood and stands back up.

"You let one of them live with you, then let her become one of us, live here. Claim her as your own. The elders would've ashamed of you. You don't deserve to be king."

The hands holding me release me. I look around so confused. Samael is livid and his attention completely focused on Oliver.  Malachi's face for once looks like he feels bad for me instead of being disgusted by me. He gives me a small smile trying to comfort me in his own way. Oliver used me. And I let him. I step forward. Oliver laughs.

"What, human? You going to cry?"

Just then Olivia runs in and Malachi stops her holding her still. He whispers something in her ear and she roars.

"Oliver you idiot!"

Samael is a foot away from Oliver as I close I'm on them. The crutch I had to use is leaned on the bed near Oliver. Before he realizes it I grab it and hit him as hard as I can across the face. Then I just run. I can't remember how Oliver took me outside, but I keep looking. The Dark Kind just watch me as I wander around lost.

I find a dark hallway that appears abandoned. I fall in defeat. Hands grab me and his arms cradle me. The feeling is familiar.

"Take me home Dark Man," I whisper.

I fall asleep on his shoulder. And once again nightmares take over. This time, however, Oliver is the main act. He's chasing me through the endless halls. I take a sharp right and see a red door. I have to get to the door. Oliver is so close. I bust through the door to find Samael dead on his throne. Blood surrounding him like a small pond.

"Don't worry, you'll see him again," Oliver says as he grabs my neck and breaks it.

"Elizabeth. Elizabeth, calm down!" The Dark Man caresses my cheek trying to get me to stop screaming. I look in his eyes and the tears just fall.

"I'm sorry."

"Do not apologize. It just proves even more that you were meant to be one of us."

"Because I'm an idiot?"

He laughs. "That's not quite what I think."

"Oliver tricked many of us. His time with the humans corrupted him. It fueled his hate for them."

"But why did he trick me? I helped him escape!"

"I know. Let's not talk about this right now. Let's talk about your poor aim. And getting you trained. I can't have anyone taking you away again."

"I dont belong to you Dark Man."

"In our world you do. It's for your protection, girl." He growls.

I have no comeback. My mind is exhausted. He knows this and pulls me back down so I'm laying next to him. For once there is not lust in his eyes. For once I think he might actually care. But I'm apparently no judge of character. I lay with him but my heart is full of fear. I'm a stranger in a different world. I belong nowhere. My people don't want me back because I'm tainted by the Dark Kind.

And the Dark Kind don't want me because I'm human.

"None of them may want you Elizabeth, but I will always." I heard him whisper as I fell asleep.
