2-Second Chances

Jack's P.O.V.

We walk into the first Starbucks we could find in desperate need of caffein and to my surprise, as we were waiting in line, I hear our song playing! I look around to find the radio but couldn't see it anywhere. I follow the sound of the familiar tune leading to this beautiful girl who didn't seem to be in the best of moods.

I quickly get back to Alex to tell him about it and as soon as he sees her he starts grinning,"Wow! She's so hot! Why is she alone?"

I could tell he wanted to go talk to her so I pushed him in her direction.

He stumbled backwards looking terrified "wait, what am I supposed to say to her?!"

"Come on man, she'll be thrilled to meet you, to get her attention just say something about her music..."

I keep an eye on him at the same time as I take our order, I can see him say something before she shrugs and he simply waddles back to where I'm standing looking like a beat up kitten.

"dude, she blew me off..." I could tell he was sad, that girl did seem to have something special...

Suddenly I got an idea, I took out a pen and wrote down a little note on a napkin and walked back to her, she didn't look up so I slipped it under her cup of coffee, deciding not to mention who we were, let her wonder.

We walked out and saw a music store right across, we immediately went in and made our way towards the back of the store where they keep displays and demos and such, we started playing a few chords before jumping into a song, we decided on Weightless and Alex was really feeling it, he was signing with all his heart when suddenly he stopped, the gang doing the same.

I open my eyes to see the girl from before with the cutest of smiles. Alex was so surprised he couldn't say anything plus he was super shy so I decided to intervene, I went to shake hands with her but then thought I needed to find some way to get them together, I pulled her in for a hug and told her in a whisper that someone had a crush in her, right after doing it I mentally face palmed, I didn't want her to think I was talking about me. I mean, she cute and all but if someone should get her it's definitely Alex, he deserves to get the girl for once.

I go behind him and motion to her that he's the one I was talking about, the guys find this all really funny, and honestly it is. She says something really quietly and I didn't hear it but then she gets all red and bites her bottom lip a little, I see Alex tense up a tiny bit, she was clearly oblivious to this but I could tell he was already mentally undressing her just by the look on his, I started laughing at him and nudged him, making him blush as he realized he was staring at her.

"I'm Kelsey" the girl said, her boss got in just then and made her go back to the front of the store, the guys went back to talking about music but Alex and I walked to another row.

"Next time instead of staring at her you should try saying hi or something, I'd bet she would have loved talking to you."

He played with his watch, he always does that when he's nervous, "Seriously, why don't you got talk to her? She obviously likes you since she listens to our music, whats the worse that could happen?!"

For a moment he looked like he might go and talk to her, then he turned back around to face me, " look Jack, she already blew me off once today and I don't think I could handle doing that again, she looks amazing but I can't do it, I just can't alright!"

"Well what's stopping you man?"

His answer was mumbled and barely audible but I had no problem understanding his words.

"I'm too scared" He looked at me with his best impression of the cat form the movie in Shrek 2.

"Alright, alright, I'll got talk to her, just don't blame me if ever she falls for me instead" I say jokingly, he knows I wouldn't make a move on her as long as he was interested.

I was going to ask her if she ever wanted to come hang out with us, hopefully I'd be able to get her number as well.
