Tranquil

Seulgi and Joohyun sat in comfortable silence as they wait for their classmates to arrive. It was a gloomy monday morning so the two were expecting the delay of their classmates' arrival. The rain loudly clashed with the window panes, startling Joohyun who quietly stared at the panes of glass with beads of raindops harshly gliding down to fall on the grass outside the building.

Seulgi, as an elected class president, needed to come to school earlier than the others. She despised being the class president, really. She didn't want to be class president but her classmates pushed her to it.

But, everytime Seulgi goes to her respective classroom, Joohyun is already sitting down on the chair next to hers. Joohyun doesn't need to come to school early but it's probably her tactics to avoid the people who she assumes, "judges" her.

Joohyun was elected as the class "goddess" as if that position even exists. Joohyun kept humble about her appearance, denying it without a single word coming out of her mouth. It's not that she's a snob, or that she's secretly liking the attention she gets. She's just really bad at communicating and has severe anxiety when it comes to socialising.

As much as she wants to gain more friends, her heart just doesn't cooperate. Her heartbeat increases to an unhealthy pace, giving Joohyun a painful feeling in her chest everytime she talks to people. She often has a notepad in hand to communicate with others. She found out that it's more comfortable than actually speaking to them.

Seulgi was the first person to know about Joohyun's situation. Seulgi was always observant. She knows how to read the mood or better, someone else's mind. It was a skill she learned to master as time goes by and it really comes in handy when it comes to Joohyun.

Joohyun need not to say a word for Seulgi to understand what she wants to say. A simple glance or maybe a subtle hand gesture will do. That's what she likes about Seulgi.

"The weather is really bad today huh?" Seulgi softly spoke as she averted her gaze to Joohyun.

"I suppose it is. Do you think Seungwan will come go school today?" Joohyun thought loud enough for Seulgi to "hear".

"We have an activity today with the rest of the student body so I think Seungwan will attend classes. That's the only thing she cares about. Socialising." Seulgi chuckled. "What you should worry about is Sooyoung. She might have new tricks under her sleeve." Seulgi shuddered at the memory of Sooyoung kidnapping and threatening to kill her for Joohyun's "safety".

Joohyun frowned. "I'm sorry."

Seulgi looked at Joohyun confusingly. "Why are you apologizing?".

"You almost got hurt because of me."

Seulgi annoyingly chuckled, acting like everything that happened was nothing. "It's not your fault. It's just that Sooyoung likes you too much that she'd go overboard."

Joohyun softly sighed, clutching at the corners of her desk. "Still.. What if something worse hap-"

"Don't worry about me, Joohyun. I can take care of myself." The younger's smile was too genuine for Joohyun to be comfortable. Joohyun knows about how she made Seulgi's school year a nightmare.

"Besides, your small circle of friends is very amusing. Specially that Yeri kid who believes you're a princess and that she's some kind of a dragon warrior or something."

"Also Sakura who I tried to befriend but she insisted to be my dog... I still want her to treat me like a regular person though."

The two of them laughed at the thought of their friends. Seulgi was the reason why Joohyun has friends now and Joohyun will forever be grateful for that.

"It's sad that even after 30 minutes, we're still the only ones who is here. It'd be nice if they arrive sooner."

"But... Being alone with you is nice too." Joohyun wondered, avoiding Seulgi's gaze in hopes of the girl not understanding what was running through her mind.

"Yeah? I think so too. Being with you just gives me some sort of.. You know, peace and silence."

The two girls shyly smiled as silence surrounded them once again.

For the first time, Joohyun decided to open her mouth and let Seulgi hear her voice.

"Silence with you makes my heart flutter. It brings me to a state of tranquility that even the strongest of storms can't vanquish.."

Joohyun genuinely smiled as Seulgi's eyes slowly turn to crescents as her beautiful smile came to view.

"Me too Joohyun. I love silence with you. In shorter words,

I love you."
