(I did do research but I still don't know that much about it . Hopefully I don't I offend anyone because that's not my intention.)
D. I. D: A disorder characterized by the presence of 2 or more distinct personality states. Usually developed from trauma as a way to help a person avoid bad memories. Each may have a unique name, personal history, and characteristics.The person with dissociative identity disorder however may not be aware that it is happening at all. They may just have a sense of losing time or incoherence about who they are and what they have been doing. Although not everyone experiences DID the same way, for some the "alters" or different identities have their own age, , or race. Each has his or her own postures, gestures, and distinct way of talking. Sometimes the alters are imaginary people; sometimes they are animals. As each personality reveals itself and controls the individuals' behavior and thoughts, it's called "switching." Switching can take seconds to minutes to days.
