Chapter 2: Out On The Field Before Making New Friends

"Morning Jessie, I made pancakes for breakfast" I told her without looking away from what I was doing, "Morning" she greeted back, "So when are you going to start stealing like mum and dad used to?" she asked while she waited, "I don't know yet, but I'm thinking of starting soon" I smiled, "You still sure you're ready for this?" she asked which I nodded to as I plated the food up. After school we all walked home together after hearing from different classmates about this famous thief that has just appeared after 8 years, "I'm going to challenge that thief" I said randomly, "You do?" Sam asked skeptical, "Yeah, it might be fun having a rival" I grinned, "Do you think mum and dad were rivals when they were thieves?" Jessiebell asked, "I don't know, maybe" I shrugged as I looked at the sky to see it in beautiful shades of red and orange. Once we got home I went to the lair that we found and read some of the books our parents kept there, "I wonder if Jessiebell's theory might be right?" I asked myself before I heard the click of the tape recorder, "We're guessing you are planning to take over as Midnight Melody? We wish you luck with your mission our dear daughters" I heard mum say, "Remember that your powers are your friends and use they wisely" dad instructed, "Yes sir" I nodded as the tape recorder was changed and begun to get ready as I heard on the news that the thief was planning to steal tonight, I used my wings that I summoned to get there in time to see the flicker of lights.

"This feels a little too easy" I sighed as I saw something white jump out of the window, "What the heck?" I asked as I watched police cars chase after the thing while I continued towards the roof, I hid myself before I saw a guy in white, "That must be him" I smirked, "Such an antiquated trick" a voice called causing me to look over at another guy in white. "Two of them?" I asked myself as I watched the scene unfold, "You're sullying the name of the Phantom Thief" the second guy called out, "Who are you?!" the first one asked just as confused as I was apparently, "I've been waiting for you Kaitou Kid" the second answered, "Just what is going on?" I asked no one as the second guy in white jumped down from where he was standing, "Then are you able to see through this Magic?" the first asked. 'Why does he sound older than the other? Are they the torch or something?' I thought as I focused on the scene, that's when the first moved his cloak making his body disappear leaving only his hands, cape and head visible, "Oh come on, that has to be a bunch of mirrors" I told myself, "What's wrong? Shocked speechless, are you?" the first asked resulting in the second to start laughing, "Your amateur trick makes me laugh is all!" he exclaimed behind his mask, "What?!" the first gasped, "Bastard... Prepare yourself!" the first yelled as he charged at the second, I quickly ducked my head down not wanting to see what happens but when I looked again, the first was standing in shards of mirror pieces with his mask on the ground too.

"I knew it!" I yelled from my spot before covering my mouth, "I probably just gave myself away" I gulped before looking over to see the old man talking to the second guy, "Looks like they didn't hear me" I sighed thinking they didn't know I was there, I looked back at them to see them looking over at me causing me to duck again. "We know you're there" the second guy called to me making me flinch, "So they did hear me" I gulped before the wind started to pick up, "Oh no" I gulped before running for the edge, "This is my que to leave!" I yelled as I summoned my wings and jumped off the edge not wanting to be caught, I quickly flew a good distance before landing in an alleyway, "That was close" I laughed before running home with a smile on my face, when I got home I went straight to bed as I was tired from the excitement. The next day after school a girl from my class came up to me, "Hi, you're the new girl right?" she asked, "Yeah" I nodded, "I noticed that your sister and friend aren't with you" she pointed out, "They have club activities" I answered confused to what she wanted, "Then why don't you walk we me and my friend Kaido? That way you won't be alone" she smiled, "Thanks... Um?" I smiled but it faded when I realised I don't know her name, "I'm Aoko" she giggled as she hugged the fish that I just now realised she was carrying, "What's with the fish?" I asked as we started walking, "You'll see" she giggled with a devilish look in her eyes, 'I feel sorry for whoever is on the receiving end of this' I sighed.

While we walked we talked about a lot of things, I even learnt that her dad is in charge of the Kaitou Kid Case and to find out who was with him last night during his robbery of a local jewel store I was at last night, "He said it was a girl" she told me, "A girl?" I asked pretending to be confused, "Oh! There he is" she smiled as she held the fish behind her back as she approached a boy looking at something in his hand. "Kaito! Let me show you something great" Aoko told the boy causing him to look up at her, "This is your favourite" she smirked before revealing the fish making him scream as I saw something fall into the fishes mouth while I held in my laughs, "Salmon, spit it out! Or are you a bonito?!" he yelled as he started shooting cards out of a gun at the fish in panic, "I hate all fish!" he announced, "What are you doing?" Aoko asked him annoyed, "Can't you tell how much this fish is worth?" she asked, "Don't faint when you hear this!" he warned before a flag popped out of the gun saying 'Worth 400,000,000 Yen' making me burst into laughter about the insane amount, "Who's that?" Kaito asked Aoko as he finally noticed I was there, "I'm Jessica, I recently joined the school with my younger sisters, me and Samantha happen to be in your class" I explained, 'I actually sit behind him actually' I corrected myself, "Oh, I remember, the transfer students right?" he asked causing me to nod as I carefully joined them to the spot where they were standing, "She's going to be walking home with us" Aoko smiled.

Walking home with them was actually quiet fun, it's not that I don't like walking with my sisters it's just that the topics changed more randomly than it did with Kaito and Aoko, "Wow, the school system over there sounds more complicated than over here" Aoko pointed out, "I would say the same about the school system here" I giggled before we stopped, "I'll see you two tomorrow" Aoko smiled before heading to the left in the fourway road. "Bye" I smiled as I walked ahead with Kaito following me, "I'm guessing you walk this way too" I smiled to start up a conversation, "Yeah" he nodded with a smile, 'This is my first time walking home with a boy alone, it's kinda awkward' I thought causing myself to blush at what I was thinking, "You okay?" he asked making me snap out of my daze, "Sorry, I space out a lot" I blushed in embarrassment, "It's fine" he chuckled, "I only asked if you were okay because we got to my house" he added, "Well see you tomorrow" I smiled before turning to walk home which surprisingly wasn't far from Kaito's house, "Two new friends in only two days of being here" I smiled to myself, "And a new rival on top, this should be fun"

Sorry that it's short and kinda rushed, I was typing this up late last night as I forgot for a minute that I'm supposed to update every Sunday now which results in me creating these chapters the night before ~JesstheCatGirl
