"Michael! Jane! It's so great to see you!"

You embrace your cousins that you hadn't seen in so long. They were basically your best friends growing up. You guys did everything together. But after you moved to a town a few hours away, you drifted apart a little. All of your lives got busier, and it was just harder to keep in touch.

But you finally had some time off to come visit, and you were going to be staying with Michael and his family for a week.

"It's been too long!", Jane says, realeasing you.

"It has."

"How have you been, Y/N?", Michael.

"Pretty good. But I haven't been able to find a job since the bookstore closed down. I'll need to find one soon, otherwise the flat I'm staying in will evict me," you sigh.

"Oh, that's terrible news," Jane says. "Well, maybe you'll be able to find a job over here. I'm sure there must be openings somewhere."

"Yes, and we'd be happy to help you," Michael adds.

"You are too kind. Thank you."

You pick up your bags to bring upstairs, when suddenly you hear, "Aunt Y/N!"

Georgie rushes down the stairs, followed by Annabelle and John.

They all wrap you in a tight hug, and you go on your knees to be on their level. "Aw, I missed you all very much," you say.

"Especially me?", Georgie asks, pulling away.

"Yes, especially you." You stand. "And you-" You boop Annabelle's nose. "And you." You boop John's nose.

"Aw," Georgie pouts.

"Annabelle, John, why don't you help Aunt Y/N bring her belongings upstairs," Michael says.

"Okay," they say in union, then grab your bags and rush up the stairs.

"Thank you!", you call after them.

"So, what is the first thing you're planning on doing now that you're back here on Cherry Tree Lane?", Jane asks after Georgie hurries away after his siblings.

"I'm not sure. I was thinking of taking a stroll, or something of the sort."

"That sounds lovely. Why don't you go do that, and Michael and I will help Ellen prepare supper? We can all give you a proper tour of the new and improved Cherry Tree Lane tomorrow," Jane suggests.

"Yes, brilliant plan," Michael agrees.

"Alright. That sounds perfect." You smile.

After slipping on a jacket and putting your shoes back on, you head out.

The sun was just setting, and there was a gorgeous sky of wispy white clouds with a pink and orange background. It was a classic lovely London sky. There was a gentle breeze blowing, and it just felt like a perfect evening.

You look down at your watch. It's almost 7:00. You should probably start heading back.

Suddenly, something hits you, and you stumble backwards and fall onto the sidewalk.

"Oh! Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry, miss."

You look up and see a Latino man wearing flat cap looking down at you, guilt written all over his face.

He offers his hand. "Here. Let me help you."

You grab it, and he pulls you to your feet.

"Again, I'm so sorry. I have a habit of sliding down the ladder, and that makes it quite hard to see the people walking by." He offers a smile. "I'm Jack," he says, holding out his hand once again.

He has a Cockney accent, and that somehow makes him seem even more adorable. That accent seems to suit him perfectly.

"Y/N Banks," you introduce, shaking his hand. As soon as your skin collides, your hand immediately feels warm, and a little tingly. This is weird. This is very weird. You let go of his hand.

"Y/N...Banks? You wouldn't happen to be related Michael and Jane Banks, would you?"

"Indeed I am."

Jack adjusts his hat. "Would you happen to be Mrs. Michael Banks?"

"Oh, no. I'm Jane and Michael's cousin. I'm afraid Michael's wife, Kate, passed away a year ago," you clarify.

"Ah. I'm very sorry to hear that."

You let out a small sigh. "Thank you. I'm afraid Michael hasn't taken her death so well." You pause, looking over at the gently rustling branches of a newly blooming cherry tree. "But who would?"

You glance back at Jack, and see him giving you the sweetest expression ever.

You clear your throat, surprised that you got so deep with a man you had just met a few minutes ago. "Well, I should probably be heading back. Michael and Jane will be expecting me."

"Oh." Jack quickly grabs his ladder, making it look weightless, then places it on the back of his bike. "I could give you a ride, miss."

"You can call me Y/N. And I'm fine to just walk home. I'm sure you still have more lamps to light. I wouldn't want to interrupt your route," you say.

"No, it's no trouble at all. Really." He gets on his bike. "Hop on."

You hesitate, then climb on to the front part of the seat.

"Have you done this before?", you ask uncertainly.

"No. Let's go!"

He pushes off, and you immediately latch on to his arm and hold on for dear life. You hear him lightly chuckle.

"Do you know where the Banks' live?", you ask, trying to keep your voice steady.

"Yes, Miss Y/N, I do. Been riding around these parts since I was a boy."

After a couple minutes, Jack slows the bike, and you let out the breath you had been holding when it finally comes to a complete stop.

You lightly laugh, then lean back, resting against Jack.

You suddenly realize what you were doing, and quickly get off the bike. "Oh, uh, sorry," you say.

"No, it's quite alright." He gives you a crooked grin from his perch on his bike. "You look sorta familiar. Have you ever been around Cherry Tree Lane before?"

"My family used to visit all the time when I was a child." You look around wistfully. "I would come to stay with Michael and Jane at least once a week."

"That's where I recognize you from, then."

You study Jack's face. Now that he mentions it, he did look a bit familiar, too. "Yes, I must've seen you around as well. You do look familiar." You give him a smile. "Well, thank you so much for the ride. Hopefully I will see you around."

Jack grins and nods. "I'm sure you will." He tips his cap. "Goodbye, Miss Y/N."

You smile back. "Goodbye. Thank you again."

He gives you one last smile, then rides away.

Maybe you should go for a walk every evening.
