it'd been three weeks since sofia first arrived in england. she now knew her route to university like the back of her hand. she'd also become best friends with bella the brunette from across the hall and they spent a lot of time together, always in each others dorms getting takeaway and watching movies. she'd become closer with dele too, they would text every day but sofia still managed to avoid the topic of her last name. it was like a thing of theirs now, for sofia to call dele by his last name, alli and refuse to tell him her full name. sofia followed dele on instagram, but his notifications are so full he never saw- which she knew would happen. he didn't know though, she found it humorous that she would like his photos, and he had no idea who she was.

oh so he's a comedian now huh?;)

what? omg how did you?

dybala. that's why you never told me your last name? you know your brother doesn't change my opinion on you, right?

i know. i just didn't see the relevance you know. plus i thought it was funny that i'd been following your instagram for so long and you never had a clue when i was liking all of your posts and it was funny that you couldn't figure out my surname. it never crossed my mind that you, a footballer, would care that my brothers a footballer. that wasn't a thing.

but that was one of the reasons you didn't tell me surely? of all the times we've had conversations about football, we even spoke about paulo a couple of times and you never decided that was a good time to mention he was your brother?

i don't know, i guess it just felt awkward telling you after so long. like, the argument of why didn't i tell you when you told me who you were could've been brought up, and it just felt awkward to me to fit it in. i'm not sure why you're acting mad right now?

sofia stared at the message which stated read underneath it. she couldn't understand why he was so mad, it wasn't a secret it was just never brought up. for some reason it was such a big deal to dele to the point he ignored sofia. she sighed and took herself over to bella's dorm.

"hi," sofia sighed, walking into bella's dorm and slumping down on her bed.

"jesus what happened?"

"i commented on dele's instagram photo and fans started replying talking about me being paulo's sister and i guess that popped up in his notifications so he messaged me and then we got in a heated debate over why i never told him and then.. he left me on read? like is it really that deep. i never told him because i didn't see the importance in it, he knew i was close to my brother and he knew his name and other things about him but him being a famous footballer was never really relevant. he was acting like i lied to him and kept this huge secret when it was never a secret it was just a fact that never came up? was i in the wrong or is he overreacting?"

"i mean i did tell you that you should have told him sooner but like you said it was never a secret and you didn't lie to him. he is overreacting but maybe he's hurt because he told you everything about himself but you didn't tell him this fact? i don't know i just think you both need to calm down, it's not a big deal."

"you're right. i'll give him time to calm, maybe i'll message him tomorrow."

sofia and bella ordered a chinese takeaway and sat in their dorm, catching up with the tv show midnight texas. it had been 4 hours since dele left sofia on read and she was trying to keep her mind off of it when bella looked at sofia with a sympathetic look, and looked back at her phone screen where she was staring at something she knew would upset her best friend.

bella sighed. "sofia... i was just looking through instagram and well, there's something i have to show you. please don't let it hurt you,"
