Kurt and Blaine have been roommates for a while, they have separate bedrooms and are "just friends" one night Blaine has a nightmare and crawls in the bed with Kurt

BANG! They all herd the gun go off. Everyone jumped to hiding places trying not to make any noise. Blaine was hiding in the corner when the window on the door shattered and someone tried to open it from the inside. All the students in the small Dalton classroom were trying to muffle cries when everything got cold.

Blaine woke up to find himself safe in the bed in his New York loft. "It was just a dream" he told himself over and over but he just couldn't stop shaking. Normally he would find comfort in his large bed, but now his pillow and blanket just didn't feel safe. He lied there for what felt like forever, not able to go back to sleep, he decided he would make himself some warm milk. Making his way to the kitchen he saw Kurt's door cracked.

Kurt could hear the small whimpers coming from Blaine's room, but he decided to just leave it be. He couldn't sleep, normally the sounds of Blaine's soft snores would send him into a soothing, dreamless sleep, but tonight there were no snores, just the sound of his roommate tossing and turning and whimpering small "no's" in his sleep. He had just lied back down in an attempt to try and get at least a few hours of sleep when he saw Blaine peeking around the corner or his door. "Hi.." Blaine said sheepishly "I couldn't sleep." he stated, clarifying for Kurt, as if he didn't already know. "Hi," Kurt gave him a soft smile and patted his bed, motioning for Blaine to come sit beside him, "I couldn't sleep either." He and Blaine shared a moment of comforting silence before Blaine bowed his head and asked quietly, "C-can I sleep in here tonight, I-its just I had this nightmare and I-I cant get it out of my head and..." he was going to continue when he heard a soft chuckle and saw Kurt already moving over. "Of course you can stay." Blaine crawled over the covers and into Kurt's side. It was like they read each others minds. Kurt knew Blaine didn't want to talk about it, and Blaine felt at home, curled up in Kurt's side, listening to the rhythmic sounds of his breathing.

The next morning was the best either of them had seen in a long time. Kurt woke first, feeling Blaine tighten his grip around his waist before settling back into the bed, soon after Blaine stirred and looked into Kurt's eyes. In that moment both of them knew why they were so comfortable the night before.

Their bodies and hearts knew something their minds didn't, yet, and so for every nightmare  after that Blaine awoke to find Kurt right beside him whispering soothing words into his ear and stroking his back until he drifted back to sleep.
