"The Past"

Thirteen years ago...

Rojnapat Residence

"Papa! Dwim! Gampa Mo!" Three year old Bayu jumped on his dad's belly early in the morning.

"Huh?" Ishan is confused.

"I think he said 'papa! I dreamed grandpa Mek!'." Kasem relayed the little boy's message to his fiancé. Kasem stays with them at the Rojnapat house on the weekends.

"You dreamed of grandpa Mew?" Ishan asked his son.

"Um. Said...come see me!" the little boy then got picked up by Kasem from Ishan's belly. "Sooo. .papa! Les go see Gampa! Now!" Bayu jumped up and down at Kasem's embrace.

"What? See Grandpa? But baby...grandpa is..." Ishan could not tell the young kid that grandpa Mew has long left. Forever. Before Bayu was born. The boy has never met Ishan's father except seen his pictures.

"Maybe we should go visit his grave, P'. Maybe that's what he means. Why else would he make our son dream of him. Bayu hasn't even met his grandfather at all."

"But Chiang Mai is a long drive, Kas."

"We'll fly."

"Today?"

"In an hour or two? I'll make the arrangements. Go take Bayu and get ready."

"Kas, wait. Ka—"

But Kasem already put down Bayu on Ishan's lap while the latter was still on the bed. Kas took out his phone from his overnight bag and made some calls.

They will be in Chiang Mai before noon.

The little Sutivong family visited Mew Rojnapat's grave in Chiang Mai.

"Papa! Ice cream." Kasem, Ishan, and Bayu had just left from their visit to Ishan's father. They arrived in the city two hours prior.

The little family are now heading out from the cemetery where Mekhin Rakthum rests. Bayu was very happy to be able to say hello to his grandpa. He doesn't know about death but he knows his grandpa is happy somewhere. He just does.

While leaving the cemetery, Bayu asked his dad for ice cream so now that is where they heading.

Inside a convenience store, Ishan is buying an ice cream for Bayu. Kasem is outside waiting in the car and making a phone call.

Bayu is standing next to his Papa as Ishan examines the variety of desserts on the glass covered fridge.

A young man wearing a cap and brown shirt is queuing to buy a cigarette. He turned his head and accidentally locked his gaze with a little boy--Bayu.

The three year old smiled at the young man. The brightest smile.

"U be wokay."

Phraisong's head tilted after hearing the little kid. Confused as to why the boy said that. Then his nose caught the sweetest scent he has ever smelled.

Lavender.

Before the young man could find out where the smell is coming from, few hands grabbed and dragged him out of the store.

He was thrown inside a black car and was punched real hard on his face he lost consciousness.

"U be wokay..." same words kept repeating on Phraisong's head as we waited his fate under Boon's brother's hands.

Phraisong remembers the boy. He was the same kid in his dreams last night. 'Who is he?'

Phraisong was taken by Ben to an unfinished condominium building. He had been tied on a chair and his mouth had been gagged with a cloth.
