Chapter 2 - Summer☀️

' People don't realise whether it's winter or summer when they're happy.'

Finally Summer holidays, time to refresh and laugh with friends. Well that's what I thought it would be until dad left for 2 weeks doing whatever with whoever and I was left looking after Duaine and Janai , Lewis is old enough to look after himself now he has a girlfriend that he can't stop talking about 🙄 must be nice.
It was summer but it didn't feel like it, I felt cold and alone inside I wasn't friends with Kendra anymore and Tess was doing her own thing with Trey, of course. The only thing that kept me happy was think about 'him', I really need to find out his name but I don't think I've ever felt this way about a boy but it's not like anything's gonna happen between us cuz he's just too good for me lol 😂.

Janai came running up to me with the phone and said someone was calling for an adult and I was the only responsible person in the house I guess so she gave it to me.
'Hello' a male voice spoke down the phone I replied asking who it was and he ignored me and just asked where my parents where and I just replied with there's no one home at the moment, he replied with oh ok what time will they be back and I said I'm not too sure when he'll be back probably not for a while.
Without finding out who it was the phone ended, Janai started asking who it was and I couldn't give her an answer so I just said it was Tess otherwise she wouldn't stop asking and start lecturing me on stranger danger blah blah.

3 weeks later...

3 weeks into summer holiday and dads still not back and there's no food in the house. My phone has broke due to Duaine having one of his angry moments and smashing it against the wall. Bills need to be payed otherwise we'll be getting people knocking at the door asking for a parent when there's no one here.

Bang bang bang

Talking about it there was actually someone knocking on the door, I opened it and there stood and skinny, malnourished, red headed lady asking for dad but I told her he wasn't home and she said ' stop lying to me, you know where your dad is I'm not stupid, infact if you don't tell me where your dad is I'll report you and your family to services!'
I froze as tears started to build up in my eyes and pleaded with her not to do it and she said well I suppose you don't have the money and I asked what money?
She exclaimed that her dad was in an outstanding debt with her and her girls and that if she doesn't get it back witting 2 days then something is going to happen.

Before she left I quickly yelled for her to come back and I asked is there anything I can do to repay the debt?
She laughed and asked how old I was and I quickly said 16 even though I was 14 and she said your lucky your legal...
