It was almost the afternoon when we arrived at the hotel it was a skiing resort at the bottom of the Alps overlooking a large lake. Not my idea of a holiday sliding down a mountain in the cold but the Europeans loved it. The hotel didn't seem to have anyone staying there. But a couple of men in black suites with earpiece's outside showed that Enies was in. Syem and I where looking out from the road pretending to have broken down. "So what's are plan wait for dark then use are rifles. Take them out one by one" she shook her head wiles looking out at the hotel "no the Americans will probably be picking him up tonight we have to move before then." Great I thought. I didn't work well with deadline's the one thing I couldn't work with "who are they" she focused on the window she must have had super sight or something but I had just learned it was best not to questioned her and just roll with it "that's his private guard. He recruits from various groups around the world most are ex army but some are freelance" so they where experienced thought "what equipment they using" she shrugged her shoulders "pistols I don't see any rifles they may even be unarmed" that was weird they must have had at least one sniper "ok so you going to take most of them out wiles I watch your back" I said jokingly. She turned round and said "yeah why not I mean I mean we need to catch Enies by surprise so why not" I watched her to see if she was joking "gun please" she said holding her hand out "wait what are you going to do" I asked wiles handing her my colt pistol. She smiled. Oh god I though "what I'm good at" she ran off still loading her gun "cover me" she shouted back wiles rushing though the tress that separated us from the hotel. Jesus I cursed. She wasn't going to take them all out was she? Wiles grabbing my rifle I thought she could catch bullets so why not? I quickly set up out side the hotel in the tress Syem had ran from. There where 4 guards two by a car parked outside and two just outside the door I lined up a shot for one of the guards by the car but before I could even think about pulling the trigger. Syem ran pulled her gun up and put a hole in his stomach. The other guard couldn't even pull his gun out before she had punched his head though the glass of the car leaving his neck impaled in the glass she jumped over the car to use it as cover from the agents at the door. They had only just realised what was going on. I tried to readjust myself to hit them but Syem all ready had it covered. Both the guard lay there after Syem took them out no bullets wasted a clean two shots. Great I thought what was the point in me then I said to myself. Before I knew it, the windows where smashed open reviling 3 guards with machine guns shooting the hell out of the car Syem was behind. Ok I thought come on jack she's showing you up get one at least. I took aim at the one on the right but he had all ready fell out window. I took aim at the one on the left but the bloodstain on the Curtin showed he was dead finally the one in the middle. I saw the shot he was there clear in the open unloading onto the car. I pulled the trigger in hesitation that she may shoot fist and luckily it went straight between his eyes. I jumped up fist punching the air. I couldn't hold it back Syem looked back at me smiling shaking head. It occurred to me that it was really wired to jump up when killing someone. Let alone how unprofessional but she didn't seem to mind. She gestured me to come by the door. I ran over. I passed the guy who was impaled in the window and his friend who was laying on the car hunched over he seemed to be breathing but I thought better not to mention it. He wasn't getting up and wasn't in pain, no real reason to mention it. Another had fell in a bush and the other two lay face down Syem was checking to make sure they where dead "bit brutal" I said. She shrugged taking a pistol and chucking mine back to me. it still had a good couple bullets left by the weight of it "I know but we cant waist time we don't know when the Americans are getting here and we need to keep the element of surprise" I nodded "so where's Enines" she opened the door "lets ask" the reception was nice with a couple of deer heads a fire place and a receptionist holding pistol. Before I could react Syem pushed me out the way and shot him in the chest. I knew she was quick but that was like lightning. I got back up from the floor and brushed myself off "He dead" I asked. The moaning from the counter said otherwise "nope" she said and walked other to him. She dinged the bell on the counter "we would like to know if a Mr. Enies has checked in" I walked over to see a man who had been shot in the left side of his belly. Looked like it had just missed his stomach. Extremely lucky I thought, made me wonder if she meant to do that. He shook his head "fuck you" Syem frowned and pointed the gun at him "your going to die anyway" she said the man scrawled on the floor unable to pick up his gun witch had been flung across the room "room 56 its to the right up the stairs" Syem gave him her smile "thank you" syem said as we walked off. We walked down the hallway listing to the man crawl away "was that all his guards" I asked surprised Syem nodded "hell probably have one guard at his door. Remember people like us don't really need protection," she said as we walked up the stairs. Great I thought so that was just the warm up. We got to the top of the stairs and just about to go though the door that led to the second floor. Syem gestured me to pass my rifle, I chucked it up to her. She grabbed it and quickly shoulder barged the door open, then shot. I heard a thud I went though the door to see the guard on the floor. Syem handed me back my rifle as I slung it across my shoulder and we edged across to the door almost on our tiptoes guns in hand. This was the fist time I had seen her be cautions she took one side of the door and I took the other. It made me wander what was behind that door. A man hiding behind a machine gun, a pile of corpse, piles of money the Americans had given him. syem put her hand up and put up three fingers. I nodded. She put her fist finger down. How would this play out a guy that could control water it was unusual I didn't know what our odds were? But I trusted Syem could handle it I knew that was enough for now. She pulled her second finger down I took a deep breath and cleared my mind. Syem pulled her last finger down I griped my pistol moved behind her as she smashed the door down furiously. I could see just behind her. The room was nice but had paper scattered around it. Enies was out side looking out from the balcony across the lake. I had a much better view of him now than the last time I saw him. He was a about the same age as me 36 maybe a bit older than me but had the same build. He had slick short black hair stubble around his face from probably a repeat of rough shaves. He also had big bags over his eyes from lack of sleep, weariness on his face as if he was in deep contemplation. We had obviously interrupted a private moment for him. Before I could examine him further. Syem and me started shooting through the glass at him. We both shot three times until we realized they weren't going through the glass it didn't even seem put a dent in it. Enies didn't move a muscle still staring out into the distances. What I thought. I squinted my eyes to look at the glass closer and I noticed the bullets were trapped and there were ripples coming from ware we had shot. That wasn't glass it was like water? It clicked and Syem pushed me to the ground as the bullets were shot back from the water. Shit I thought so this is what he can do. The room started to flood from the balcony. Syem picked up a table and threw it at the water barrier we mistook for a window. Making it dissipate. So the water was strong but not unbreakable. The puddle was still etching towards us now with the water from the barrier now added to it. Syem shot at him again with her bullets being caught by water that was some how surrounding him. Could he deflect a rifle bullet I thought? I Pulled my rifle from shoulder and with out hesitating shot for his body. He dogged with out moving, as if he pulled himself around from his feet. He reached his arm out his hand open and pulled back turning his hand into a fist. Before I could readjust my aim I heard Syem shout "HOLD YOUR BREATH" I looked at her as she faced the wall the wall bracing. For what I wondered I was answered as water started hitting my face from the ceiling. I took a quick breath as the wall opened up and was submerged under a wave that had just broken though the wall. Syem and I were encased in a watery tomb floating there. I could feel the water pushing against me trying to squeeze out the little air I had left. Syem was also struggling but was still managing to somehow shoot her gun my vision began to blur. We put up a good fight but we didn't have power or skill for this. He was prepared we didn't have the element of surprise like we thought. I looked out the bubble seeing the papers and table syem had thrown floating about with Enies out side looking perfectly calm. I looked at him as he watched me drown. I thought I should thank him after all I hoped it would end like this. I closed my eyes I went back to my porch the sun was just coming up. The free way was clear not a car in sight. all I could hear was the birds and the wind as it brushed through the grass. I sat there staring into the sunrise I was ready and all was good. Till I saw the police cars roll up their sirens cut through the silences and there lights made the sun fade away in a fog of red and blue. They were driving down my rd. he stopped just outside the house. The birds were gone, the wind had stopped and the sunrise was over. And all I could hear was my son "daddy". I wasn't dead
