I was so excited to finally be done with high school and move on the the big leagues and get on with my life. even though senior year is supposed to be the best year I had a really hard time dealing with Noah being gone and just couldn't handle the long distance relationship. We made it to Christmas break. I had seen Noah 2 times since August and I just found it too hard to keep a long distance relationship and I know the player in him was resenting the fact that his girlfriend was still in high school and wasn't part of his everyday life. Whoever said distance makes the heart grow fonder is an idiot. It wasn't the best split but I guess it could have been worse. On the way to the airport we got in an argument over trusting each other and that's when we knew this wasn't going to work.
The first couple of weeks after we broke up I lost weight and was miserable then soccer season kicked in and I put all my efforts into my game. I was named team captain and we won the state title. It was during this time that I met Alex. He went to a different school and he came up to me after the playoffs and congratulated me. I have to admit the complement caught me off guard as I wasn't used to strange guys coming up to me and complimenting me on my achievements. It was also refreshing that none of my friends, Tuppen, Lee, or Duncan actually noticed that when Alex congratulated me he asked me for my number. I thought what the hell Elle, he's cute and you haven't been on a date since Noah and It was time to get back out there. Which really was like starting new since I had only dated one person as it was.
Lee was actually the one who egged me to go out with Alex when I told him that he had called me. We had talked on the phone a few times but he hadn't asked me out yet so of course I turned to Lee to get some guy input. Lee convinced me that it seemed like Alex was interested just was taking his time. I am so bad with overthinking things when it comes to dating it is ridiculous. Finally after two weeks of getting to know each other by phone Alex asks me out. Our first date was to the movies, we saw an action movie that he had wanted to see. There wasn't much talking of course but he reached over and held my hand during the movie. There was something so refreshing about Alex. He was about 6 foot tall. Good size build which made me feel safe and I hadn't felt like that since Noah. It didn't hurt either that he had the most gorgeous green eyes you have ever seen. As we walked out of the movie hand in hand we talked about how bad the movie was and we both started to laugh. He seemed to get my sense of humor and made me feel comfortable and not embarrassed by talking about my feelings.
