Third Person's POV
Mystic Falls, September 18, 1858The sound of a woman's scream echoed through the woods as she gave birth to her baby in a secluded house.
"Come on Elizabeth, on more push." Her friend, the one and only Emily Bennett, encouraged. And with one final push as her eyes glowed yellow, the sounds of a babies cry was heard. "Congratulations. You have a healthy baby girl."
"May I?" Elizabeth panted.
Emily carefully wrapped up the baby in a blanket and handed her to Elizabeth. Emily then turned and called out. "Garrett! You can come in now!"
The little boy, Garrett Thomas Kenner, Elizabeth's 7 year old son, walked in.
"Can I see the baby?!"
Emily nodded with a smile, picking him up and putting him on the bed.
"Be careful Garrett." Elizabeth smiled as he took his baby sister's hand.
"What's her name?" Garrett asked with a smile.
"Skylar...." Elizabeth said as she felt her eyes getting heavy. That's when Emily noticed a lot more blood seeping through the sheets.
"No!" Emily panicked, carefully picking up Garrett and set him on his feet before handing Skylar to Garrett so she could attend to Elizabeth. She tried everything she could, but deep inside her she knew it was too late.
"Mommy?" Garrett cried, sensing her brothers distress, the baby started to cry as well.
"Hey, hey, hey." Emily soothed. "It's gonna be okay. But I need you to be strong for what we have to do next. Can you do that for me?"
Garrett nodded sadly, not knowing that he was gonna lose his little sister after losing his mother as well.
Later That Evening
At The Salvatore HouseIt was the middle of the night, Damon headed downstairs to get something from the kitchen when he heard a baby's cry. Damon was curious and headed to the back door, looking out past the garden into the woods before looking down and saw an adorable baby in a basket. He carefully picked her up, causing her to stop crying instantly and noticed a note at the bottom of the basket.
Dear Damon,
If you are reading this than it means I have passed and not able to take care of our little angel. I know I should have told you I was expecting, and for that I'm forever sorry. I hope you love our little angel as much as I. Please take care of him/or her. I may not be here in person, but I'll always look after our little angel in spirit. I already had names picked out. For a girl, Skylar Marie Kenner-Salvatore, and a boy, William Jackson Kenner-Salvatore. Know I love our little angel with all of my heart, and I'm sorry this had to end so tragically for me, but Damon, this is your new beginning. I will never forget you both, even in my death.
With Love, Elizabeth Kenner
Damon frowned looking down at the letter. At first the thought of him being a father was absurd. But once he looked down and saw her eyes, he knew in that moment that was his daughter and he'd protect her no matter what......
"Welcome home Skylar Marie Salvatore." Damon said kissing the baby's cheek as she looked at him with a big smile.
As the years followed, Damon's father had grown to like the little girl. As for Damon's little brother Stefan, just like Damon, she was the apple of his eye. As she would grow up they vowed to protect her from everything. Including her grandfather. Yes, he liked her, but his drinking lead to a temper and that is one of the many things they never wanted her to experience like they have as children. So if she did anything wrong, broken anything, or if anything wasn't of Giuseppe's liking, Damon and Stefan would always take turns accepting the punishment and comfort their little girl as she heard their painful screams caused by her grandfather. As long as it meant their little angel stayed innocent and unharmed, that's all that mattered to them.
