BY THE TIME IMELDA GOT HOME, she was actually not surprised when she found out that Rami was already at her house, but the one thing that led her to feel something was going to happen was to see the dining table full of food for them both and some presents were placed on the table.

Normally, most women found it sweet and adorable, but not with her. The feelings of discomfort instead pestered herself until she was unaware that she was only standing a few feet away while staring apprehensively at him and unconsciously clenching her fists tightly.

A sense of déjà vu flooded her entire soul as she inhaled a few shaky breaths, adjusting her appearance before she brought a smile back to her face. Come on, Imelda, don't let your own past waylay your future.

"Hey," Imelda greeted and walked into the dining table, scanning all the food. "You make this?"

"I hope it tastes good," Rami walked toward her and gave her a kiss on the cheek before pulled out the chair for her. "Took me a while to round up all the ingredients."

"Ah," Imelda sat down and nodded her head understandably. "Is this conversation that special until you do all this?"

"Well, you can say that," Rami replied, a nervous chuckle fled out of his lips. "That's why before we dive into that part, we should eat first."

There was no reason for Imelda to question what would happen next, they both were not lovers so it was impossible that Rami would sever any connection between them. And after a few minutes of eating and chatting, they left the dining room and moved to the living room.

And at that moment, Imelda realized Rami grew quiet, even avoiding some eye contact. Imelda secretly eyed him and could say that he was completely overwrought as if he wanted to plead guilty to a transgression Imelda didn't even know existed within him.

"So," Imelda began, breaking the uninvited tension between them. "Are we just going to sit and let the night pass by?"

"Right. Sorry, I'm a little distracted."

Imelda smiled before reached out for his hand, giving it a light squeeze. "You can tell me anything, you know that right?"

"I know." Rami's entire body relaxed a bit as he took a few deep breaths in. "This question might make you slightly uncomfortable."

"I've been dissecting human bodies since I was young, Rami," Imelda affirmed. "I think I can face a number of questions just fine."

Rami chuckled as he scratched the back of his neck. "You got me there."

"Go ahead, then."

There was a beat of silence as Imelda could still notice the struggles he had within himself, but before another encouragement sentence escaped her lips, Rami suddenly adjusted his position to face her and looked at her straight in the eyes with fraught seriousness, causing her to jump in surprise.
