The Forbidden Couple

Chapter Two

The man went into the cave looking around with his bow and arrow at him. Jake stood frozen with his back pressed up against the cold stone wall. As he stood there his leg started to numb. His eyes never left the guy. The first guy who came into sight was around Jake's age and human looking, unlike the others that were with him.

Jake's heart finally slowed down when the guy turned and walked out of the cave. Jake stood there for 5 minutes and then made his way out of the cave. The feeling in his leg started to come back. His plan was to make it back the wall without being spotted but he didn't make it a few feet out of the cave when suddenly two girls came from nowhere. A girl that looks sorta normal and a girl that looks like a human-sized bird with webbed feet and all.

He opened his mouth to scream but the normal-ish looking girl moved faster. She made a spin and then she was no longer in sight. Suddenly a hand came from behind and cupped over Jake's mouth. Which only made him panic more. Much more. His hands went to the girl's hand, trying to pry her hand off his mouth. He tried to yell again but it came out in a muffle.

The girl leaned closer to him, he could feel her warm breath on the back of his neck. Which shot a shiver up his body. Her cold and dark voice echoed as she said, "Silence outsider. I wish you no harm" she looked up and her eyes meet the other girl's "and neither does she" she said.

The bird-girl scuffed "speak for yourself" she said. Her eyes never leaving Jake.

"I want to help you, but I would rather slice your throat now then me getting killed because of your stupidity which caused you to yell." She said softly but harshly. Jake tried to calm down and steadied his heart. "I'm going to let go of you now. Okay?" She asked him. He nodded. Still freaking out but didn't want to die.

She moved her hand from Jake's mouth and moved in front of him. He stumbled backward on his hurt leg and cursed under his breath. Jake looked up from his leg to Bird-Girl. Her eyes never left him. The hatred in her eyes was like daggers piercing through his skin and into his soul.

How did she hate me? I didn't know her and she definitely doesn't know me. He thought.

Jake's eyes moved from Bird-Girl to the other girl. Her eyes were on his leg. As she sensed his eyes on her she looked up. He was a bit shocked when she asked, "Why you limp?" Jake move his leg from the hurt one, showing the deep wound.

She walked towards Jake, it took every bit of will power not to flinch as she got closer to him. Bird-Girl just stood there staring at them. As he looked down at the other girl, he was shocked to see that she had touched his leg. He hadn't even felt her hand.

The girl that was examining jake's leg looked up from the wound and to Bird-Girl. Who said, "Please do not tell me your thinking what I think your thinking." She said looking at her friend.

The girl beside Jake moved her hand from his leg and stood up. "It depends, if you think I'm thinking of healing it, then yes." She said and Jake was filled with confusion.

Bird-Girl made an unreadable face expression. The other girl went to her friend. Jake was half tempted to run but two things hit him. Curiosity, from what the girls were talking about and the pain from his leg.

"I know you're against this, and I know I'm asking a lot. But I need you to trust that I will do what I need to, at all time. And if I don't heal it, it will die in less than an hour" she was saying but Jake lost her when she referred him as an it.

Jake was pulled from his thoughts when Bird-Girl said, "But girl if we get caught we would be either banished from here or killed for treason. It's against the law to help or even speak to Outsiders" She said. Fear and love for her friend hiding deep in her voice.
