I found a cab waiting outside the airport and quickly ran towards it.
"Hello, Sir! Good day? Would you please take me to the Columbia University campus."
"Sure my lady, hop in." Said the old looking guy.
"Thank you." And hoped in.
I don't know anything about travelling, I have never travelled on my own and this was my very first time. Plus I didn't even have a map.
My Uni is located in Manhattan, a few hours away from the international airport in Manhattan. It's beautiful, as they showed in the picture and the campus is super large and they have mentioned that the dorms or the apartments give to students are combined, boys and girls. That was what worried me the most because I definitely didn't want to share a room with a guy, I mean their won't be much privacy. I wish I could be with my best friends, I don't even know where they're going for their courses since till a week ago they had no plans considering that coming to New York itself was a last minute call since I wasn't sure where exactly I wanted to settle for a few years. I wanted a city of peace, love and not to forget ART. I had always love to sketch, no matter what. It's just that when I see something that is just so beautiful and totally attractive, I just wanna sketch or paint it, the picture automatically pops up in front of my eyes and I feel like painting it right there.
The view outside was one of the pictures I wanted to paint, it was so beautiful that even if I tried to paint it, I would never be able to. For no doubt that New York is a very charming city. There were so many beautiful gardens that lay beyond my line of sight.
We reached the campus and as if I'd just seen a rainbow, I couldn't say which was more beautiful the campus or the sea beyond. It was like the stars itself had landed into the transparent water waves to make them shine. To show how beautiful it's surroundings were. I drifted my focus on the campus, it was even bigger and more beautiful than the one they had shown in the picture–its beautiful structure caught most of my attention and the big ground that lay before it was filled with faces I didn't realise were turned to me as I stepped out of the cab, handed the fee to the driver and dragged my bags behind me.
Everyone's eyes were on me as if they have never seen someone new over here but weren't rude, they all were giving me pleasant smiles, I swear one even smirked at me. They all looked quiet peaceful to me though.
My heart was in my lungs when I stopped at the threshold of the campus. Ok Sarah no need to get nervous, it's just your first step into a new life. I told myself repeatedly. I walked in and the sight, so beautiful and colorful, full of life and bright light that I had to blink a couple of times to adjust. This was a dream world, even better than one. I had never imagined my first experience to be like this. There were people walking here and there, some screaming on top of their lungs from one corner to another. This is amazing, even better, fantastic.
There was a cafe at the other end of the hall, so big that almost the whole population in this campus could probably have snacks at the same time. There were signs hanging from the ceiling for instructions. That means probably the campus is a large maze. There was a library opposite to the cafe, twice the size of the cafe. Hazel, Emily and I would definitely love to go in there together in our free time. I wouldn't say the same for Laura since she would rather prefer heading to the science lab than to the library. Since I didn't quite know the directions to the hostel which was quite far away from the campus. I had decided, I first visit my locker and then head to the hostel. I stopped my walk into the heart of the campus when I took in the crowd aww-ing at a couple. The guy was on his knees and holding the hand of the girl–his girlfriend, probably–and a rose with the other hand, she was just staring at him confused but a smile was tucked on her lips. It was difficult to understand what he was saying since the crowd was filling in soundly, afterwards they fell utterly silent.
"Jane, I want to say something to you, which probably will make your heart stop with shock. I know we have been best friends for seven years and I know I was the one that didn't want to talk to you or be only friends with you, and you kept asking what was so wrong with you that I wanted to leave your company so desperately. Well I guess I should have told you then, that the only reason that I left you because I loved you and I knew you never liked me that way and we used to be together 24/7 that whenever I looked your way, I only wanted to kiss you every second of those times, every time you were close enough to me that our bodies would touch, I would just want you to be in my arms, my present and future. I didn't know how to express my feelings to you so I......." He said panting through his nose, I could feel his feelings written all over his broad and sun-kissed face. And the reaction on Jane's face was glorious, she was crying, bright starlight tears escaped her beautiful silver-grey eyes and we're rolling down onto her swan-like neck. Thank God it was happiness that showed in her eyes and face that made him realise she lived him deeply too, or else, I didn't let myself think of the outcome if she wouldn't have liked him. He was still kneeling on one knee when she spoke, her voice like an angel.
"I love you too." And just lifted him up and placed a slow and steady kiss to his lips.
The crowd around them began clapping and hooting, as if this were a show and not reality but to my surprise I found myself clapping too and cheering happily.
I left them be and followed my way to the my locker after asking directions from a hot head. I kept walking, eyes ahead when...
"Hey!"
A screaming guy came running towards me.
"Hey! Your Sarah right, Sarah Anderson? From Canada?" He asked scanning me from head to toe. , And taking in the bags.
I said looking confused,"Yes?, Yes I am."
"And you are?"
"I'm Sam, I'm the President of the Arts community here." His eyes darted to my bags,  "Come let me help you out." He said taking one of my bags in his hand.
"Thanks."
"So I wanted to ask if you would like to join the Arts community here since I heard you're taking an Architecture course. It's not a must, but I just thought you might like it. I have seen your sketches and they're awesome honestly." He said beaming like an innocent angel. He wore a red shirt and light blue jeans. And he looked normal, unlike the stranger I had seen on my way to the flight.
He had light brown eyes and skin in color between pale and tan. And a sharp cut face. His hair was short and brown, just like his eyes.
I said without hesitation,"Sure I would love to." I said beaming at him.
"That would be awesome. And since uni is going to start next week, we have a lot of time to discuss everything. So let's catch-up..... tomorrow?" He asked with that kindness that made me immediately say, "yeah, sure why not."
He led me to the locker room.
"This is you locker. And your classes will be given to you tomorrow"
"Thank you very much I appreciate it." I said. "By the way, if you don't mind can you please give me the directions to the hostel?"
"Yeah sure"
And the he told it was not that far away but just round the corner. So I said thanks again and headed for the hostel.

After hours of searching I found it to be a very large expanse, so I headed inside.
I found my room and entered it–The key had been given to me by the lady sitting at the counter.
This was so much bigger and wider than the normal apartments I have seen here. The kitchen was on the left, it was big and open. In front of the kitchen lay the dinning table which could accompany eight people. On it's right was the hall with four sofas and an enormous HDTV hung from the wall and above it was a painting of a garden, just like the one I had seen while coming in. This apartment wasn't congested at all it was open, breathable. Behind the kitchen were four doors, probably bedrooms for whomever was supposed to stay in here with me. I strode to the rooms and chose the first door to my left. I walked in and dumped my bags on the floor and looked around. It was luxurious and enormous, there was a large bed for two in the middle of the room. On the left there was a floor-to-ceiling window and beyond that was a balcony, the view ahead was mouth-drop and beautiful. Opposite to the bed on to the right, There was a dressing table with a mirror on top. To the left of the bed next to the bathroom was the armoire, double doors. And also there were two small tables, each on one side of the bed.
I strode to the bathroom to freshen up.
After I had changed into comfortable clothing, I unpacked my stuff and set them into the armoire.
I was super hungry, so I went to the kitchen and found almost all of the spices and eggs and bread were already in the cupboards above the large ornate piece of the counter. So I made myself some eggs and went to explore the remaining three rooms.
They were just as spacious and luxurious as mine.
I didn't quite have anything to do so after I ate I went to sleep. The bed was super comfortable that I slept like a babe.
