I woke up in a tent and instantly knew something was wrong. My head was throbbing and it felt like I had been drugged. Then I realized that I had been drugged. My head hurts extremely bad and I barely remember anything.

What I do remember was that the academy was being infiltrated. I remember alarms blaring and people shooting at other agents. My friend Zoe Zibbel and I were supposed to stay together. Obviously, that didn't happen. A few minutes later, I was alone. Somehow, I was doing fine for the first ten minutes. Although I had fighting skills of a bowl of jello, I was handling myself fine. Then...

I don't know. Everything afterwards is just a blur. I don't know who drugged me or what happened to my friends.

I get up and start to jog in place. We had learned at the academy that the best way to recover from being drugged is by getting your blood pumping. I started to feel better after only a few seconds.

I was about to jog out of the tent when a familiar face came in.

Erica Hale.

"Erica! Were you taken too?" I asked her. She didn't answer. I expected at least a "Be quiet!" from her, but nothing. I tried again.

"Um, Erica? Is everything okay?" I gulped.

No reply.

I start to worry even more than I already have been. Based on Erica's behavior, something was seriously wrong.

Erica turned away suddenly.

"Stay here," she said. "I'm doing what's right."

"Well, what are you doing?" I questioned. "Maybe I can help?"

Erica again doesn't say anything. It wasn't like her to be this quiet. If whatever she was doing was supposed to help the CIA, she would tell me.

"Erica, what's going-"

Before I can finish my sentence, someone shoots my leg. I yelp in pain and fall over.

"Let's go, Erica," a voice says. "He talks too much."

I recognize that voice. My stomach churns as I look up at the one who shot me.

Joshua Hallal, the evilest person I've ever met. Joshua is one of the superiors of SPYDER, the evil organization we've been trying to stop for awhile now. He was mad at me for this freak accident that caused him to lose his arm, leg, and eye. I didn't cause the accident, but he blames me anyways.

"Let's go," he tells Erica once more, putting his arm around her. "It's time to discuss our plan."

Plan? I think. What plan? And is Erica seriously on their side?

My second question gets answered when I see Erica nod at Joshua and walk out of the tent. Erica had joined SPYDER.

I have no idea why she joined SPYDER. I don't see a reason for her to suddenly turn on us like that. It's her legacy to become a spy for the CIA. She's related all the way back to the great Nathan Hale, founder of the CIA Academy of Espionage, which is our school.

It's hard to believe that Erica had joined SPYDER. That's why I decided to have a look around. Well, I would've, if my leg didn't like it was getting stabbed by a million pin needles. Instead, I looked around the tent for something to tie around my bullet wound. For some reason, someone had left bandages in the tent. I took the bandages and wrapped them around my leg. I then decided that it would be best to leave at night so there would be a lower chance of someone seeing me.

I left at 22:00 sharp. It was so dark that I could hardly see where I was going. The only sources of light were the stars and moon. I decided to get to know my surroundings better. I noticed it was fairly tropical here. It was also extremely hot.

I sneak into another tent and find a travel brochure about an island called "Palaui Island" in the Philippines. I realize that we are on Palaui Island.

SPYDER took us all the way here? I ask myself.

I continue to read the brochure.

It states that people usually go to camp there. It hits me that SPYDER is pretending to be a bunch of tourists that want to stay for a while.

I can't just stand here, I tell myself. I have to find out what SPYDER's planning.

I also try to tell myself that I can convince Erica to come back to our side. After all, I don't see any reason she would have to say no. My friends and I are always at Erica's side, even if we don't want to be. She would have to come to her senses.

Days pass. Everyday, I get closer to finding out SPYDER's plan. Then, I get caught.

"Give up, Ben," Joshua growls. "Drop that gun and you'll live. I know that you can't even shoot, so there's really no need for this."

"I won't back down. You and the rest of SPYDER are scums, and I'll never surrender. I know I'm doing what's right," I blurted. It was after the words flew out of my mouth when I realized that I said something Erica might've said. It hurt a little knowing that she wasn't on our side anymore.

"He's all yours," Joshua told Erica, smiling.

Erica came up to me and pointed her gun. I didn't move. Instead, I braced myself for the bullet.

Erica aimed, then...

She shot Joshua in his only good leg.

"Aaaaaggggghhhhh!" he exclaimed.

"Not sorry, Josh," Erica smirked. She then grabbed my hand and started to run.

We ran for hours, fighting enemy agent's and grabbing as much evidence we could find.

"Come on," Erica said, her normal, cool personality back into play. "There's a boat we can use to get off of this island."

As we run, Erica explains what she found out about SPYDER's plan. I then tell her what I found out.

"Well, what do you think SPYDER's up to?" Erica asks.

"I think they're trying to blow up the capital, Manila," I reply.

"Why?"

"Well, their bombs are powerful enough that when they explode, the blast has a diameter of 7 meters, or a radius of 3.5 meters." I explain. "There are hidden underground tunnels in Manila that are 3.5 meters below the street level. Maybe they want something to do with those tunnels, like use them to store their weaponry and other things."

"Why not just look for an entrance?" Erica questioned as we kept running.

"The entrances that are known are near busy places. They might look suspicious if they all went under there. Plus, you know SPYDER and how they blow up everything," I reply.

Erica nods.

"Okay," she says. "We have to get this information to Grandad, fast. Look, there's the boat."

It's a banca boat, the most commonly used boats in the Philippines. I know Erica chose this boat because it would be less suspicious.

Me and Erica get on the boat. Then, Erica turns on the engine.

"We're going to the Jerolynda Resort. It's really far from here, so we have a lot of time on our hands to figure out a plan to stop SPYDER," Erica tells me. I nod.

"Yeah," I agree. I then ask something that's been bugging me ever since Erica shot Joshua.

"Hey Erica," I say. "I thought you actually joined SPYDER back there. Now I know that was all fake, but, if you really had to, would you join them.

"No," Erica replies.

"Why not?" I ask. Erica smiles at me. Her ice blue eyes shining and her dark brown hair flowing in the breeze.

"Because," she says. "I would never betray my friend."
