A seven year old Tsuna was playing at home, when she heard a pained voice. It sounded like a bird. She went to the bushes and saw an injured sparrow.

"Oh, poor little sparrow. It's okay, I'm here." Tsuna said as she gently picked it up. It tweeted weakly at her as she tended to its wing.

Then something unexpected happened.

A swirling vortex of evil appeared from the ground. It soon became a shadowy figure with a stick that looked like a scythe. In fact it was. When he emerged, Tsuna saw that he had a skull instead of a human face. The bird in her hands shivered in fright for it knew what this thing was.

The Grim Reaper.

"Wh-who are you?" Tsuna asked.

"I, young lady am the Grim Reaper. Master of the forces of life and death. I'm here for the bird you have there."
He said in a Jamaican accent.

"What? But, I was going to help him! You can't just take Mr. Sparrow's life." Tsuna protested.

"Look, I'm just doing my job, but I'm afraid it's curtains for Mr. Sparrow." The skeleton said.

"No! I won't let you just do that!"

"How dare you give orders to me. I have powers you can't possibly imagine!" Grim yelled.

Tsuna thought this over, then she knew from an old story that Death liked to make bets.

"Well, I would like to at least make a deal. I'll play a game with you, if you win you can have mr. Sparrow and me. If I win, you heal mr. Sparrow and he gets to live longer." Tsuna offered.

Grim laughed darkly. "I love games, and I never lose. Though I must ask why are you offering your soul as well?"

"I don't have any friends, and I feel like I'm a burden to mama, everyone calls me a 'dame'." She admitted.

"Hmm. Well then, why don't we even up the stakes? If you win, which you won't, I'll be your best friend forever."

"Okay. Since I challenged you, you get to pick the game." Tsuna offered.

" very well. We will be playing my favorite game." Grim said as a limbo bar appeared in the yard. "Limbo. My lawyer Harvey will be the the referee." He said as a large snake in a suit appeared.

After a while of playing, the two were even, until there was one level left, and Tsuna couldn't go that low, but Grim could.

That was when Lady Luck intervened for Tsuna.

"Tsu-chan! Supper is ready! Nana yelled as she opened the door, shocking Grim, and causing him to touch the limbo bar.

He lost.

"Ooh, sorry Grim. You lost."Harvey said.

"Wha, but, that-!" Grim protested.

"Sorry Grim, but Tsuna didn't do anything and you lost out of shock. She took you fair and square. The bird gets to live."

Tsuna was estatic when she heard that. That meant...

"Yeah, now you're my best friend forever!"

Grim however was still in denial.

"This is impossible! I am the Grim Reaper! MASTER OF THE FORCES OF LIFE AND DEATH!!"

"Not anymore buddy, not anymore." Harvey said as he looked at Tsuna introducing Grim to her mom and asking if he could stay with them. Nana, being Nana, agreed saying that they had an extra room that Grim could use.

Tsuna really didn't know what this would mean till later.

That was not only the day I met the Grim Reaper.

It was the day, either by fate or dumb luck,

That I beat death.
