I looked at him. Was he insane? Was this why he brought me backstage?

“What?” I said

“My mum…. She wants me to marry. She wants to see me married before she, quote, “dies”. That’s the only thing she’s asked of me. I can’t let her down” He said

I wiped my tears” why me?” I asked.

He looked at me “You know why”

I shook my head. “You are completely out of your mind… What kind of green are you smoking?” I asked him lamely.

“Brooklyn please help me. I know I was an asshole to you. I know that. But I need your help. I promise to make it up to you and then . . . a . . . quick divorce afterward. I just want my mum to see me ‘Walk down the aisle with someone she approves of’ “He air quoted.

He sank down to his knees in front of me and took my hands,

“Zayn get up. Stop” I tried to get him to stand up.

“Not until you say yes” He said. The door opened and in filed the boys. They seemed confused as to why Zayn was on his knees.

Angela just looked like she was going to have a heart attack.

“Zayn get up!’’ I whispered. I pulled on his hands.

“Not until you agree,’’ he retorted.

“I am not agreeing,” I said.

“Then I’m not getting up and the boys and your friend will have to see me beg and grovel” He said.

“Zayn this is totally stupid!” I said as Paul came through the door.

‘‘Zayn what the hell are you doing on your knees?” He sounded like he was used to this kind of behavior.

“Important business Paul” He said at the same time I said “Bullshit.”

“Zayn get up! Or I will kick you in the balls and God help your future wife with babies.” I threatened.

“Fine,” he said and got up. “But please do this for me?”

“Excuse me! I’m lost” Said curly.

“Not now, Haz” Zayn said

“Oh you want me to do this for you?” I laughed. “You are completely insane. You want me to do you a favor? You are unbelievable” I shook my head and I could feel my eyes watering.
