It was the first day of high school for Jake Webber-Morgan, Ayden Webber-Spencer, Charlotte Cassadine, and Rocco Falconeri, James Malcolm West, Georgie Spinelli, and Avery Corinthos.

As for Josslyn Jacks, Oscar Nero-Cain, Cameron Webber-Smith, Emma Scorpio-Drake, Spencer Cassadine were all headed off to Port Charles College.

Carly and Sonny, holding back tears, bid Josslyn well as she got into her car and drove off to meet Oscar so they could head off to college.

Franco stood by Liz as she cried when Cameron got into Spencer's truck to head to meet Josslyn and Oscar, and Emma on their first day of college.

"I can't believe my baby is all grown up and headed to college!" Liz said as Franco comforted her.

But is just a moment as she realized she had two other children headed for college: Jake, now a senior, and Ayden a sophomore at Port Charles High.

When Franco and Liz dropped off Jake and Ayden for registration, the other kids: Scarlett, Rocco, Avery, James, and Georgie, were already at PCH waiting to get their class list. Scarlett and Rocco were seniors along with Jake, and Avery, James and Georgie were sophomores with Ayden.

It was an eventful first day for the students at PCH. When the bell rang for homeroom, the students piled into homeroom, where they were shocked at the discovery they found.

A beloved teacher was found murdered lying on the floor in front of the teacher's desk.

"OMG!" Avery exclaimed as she turned her head.

The others did the same as the principle rushed in to see what the commotion was. Thinking fast on his feet, he ushered the students out of the classroom where he advised them to call their parents to come and get them.

Then the principle closed the door to the classroom and called PCPD to investigate the scene. Det. Harrison Chase, Det. Dante Falconeri, and Det. Nathan West were at PCH to investigate the scene.

As Liz, Lulu, Maxie, and arrived to pick up their children, Ava and Carly showed up and argued over who Avery would go home with.

"Mom, I've heard the fighting growing up. You and dad fighting over me!" Avery told a shocked Ava. "I am seeking emanicipation from you, Carly, and dad!"

"Avery, in order for you to do that, you need to prove you can support yourself." Ava told her daughter.

"I have already done that, mother!" Avery replied. "I have Alexis Davis as my attorney, and I got a job at the Haunted Star."

"So, you think you can keep up your studies and hold down a job?" Ava questioned her daughter.

"I've been working all summer behind your back, mother." Avery told her mother, who was shocked to discover Avery even had a job.

"Well, Carly, are you going to stand for this!" Ava said to Carly.

"What can I do? I'm only the step-mother!" Carly reminded Ava. "You made it perfectly clear what my role was in Avery's life! Now you want my advice!"

"We can't let Avery do this!"

"Oh, so now you want my help to get Avery to see the mistake she is making!"

"Please, Carly, if you ever cared about Avery's well-being?!" Ava pleaded. "Make her understand that she can't emancipate herself from us."

"I think Avery has a good head on her shoulders." Carly told her, as Avery seemed happy that Carly was backing her.

Ava left the PCH without Avery, Carly had a talk with Avery about her decision.

"Thank you, Carly. I know you mean well, but I'm tired of you, dad and mom fighting over me." Avery said. "It's happened my whole life. I thought that if I did this, it would finally end."

"Avery, we'll never stop worrying about you, no matter how old you are."
