Portugal. She always wanted to go to Portugal. Get a view of the Atlantic Ocean in a different angle. Try new hobbies, new foods, instead she was stuck here. In this case, “same old, same old” but not exactly. Mentally, she stuck to the same routine she had all her life. Physically, was a whole different subject.
I followed Aylnn Reed to our next class with a couple of friends around. I kept my “cool” but in reality, I wanted everyone to go anyway. Another friend of mine came by, and knocked some of her books on the ground. All the books were filled with poetry or some sort of darkness. Walking by, I noticed a thick book of love, but almost every girl tends to read books like those. I opened the door, mostly for her. She stopped, signaling me to go ahead. I refused and she looked down, shyly at her feet as she walked in. My stomach felt like it did a complete turn, realizing I have never been that close to her. I stood there in awe, still holding the door.
After school, I walked to my car. There she was, on the other end of the parking lot. Her bookbag was plain, so was her outfit. A pair of blue skinny jeans, and a rust colored sweater, that hung over her hands as she held her phone.
“Jonathan! Are you coming?”
I turned to see Alice sticking her head out of her sunroof.
“Yeah, I’ll meet you there.”
Alice swung back in her car and drove off.
I looked back to see Aylnn Reed no longer there. I hopped in my car and drove off, to see her walking along the busy road. I wanted to drive up to her and ask if she wanted a ride, but I knew I could not. Driving passed her, I could not stop looking over my shoulder. She did not look up, or bothered to care what was going on around her, instead, she kept reading her book. That time Aylnn Reed was reading a thicker book, the one I saw earlier as her hair bounced every so slightly everytime she took a step.
I looked back around to see my car attached to the car in front of me. I quickly hit the breaks, and there she went, down the side walk. Yes, she did look up but not at me or the small incident next to her, instead she crossed the steet. With a slight jog in her step, she simply walked across the street. Not noticing, my head and eyes followed her with my hand on the door, about to go after her. Before I could, the owner of the car in front of me was yelling out their window.
Finally the traffic was back to normal and I met up with some friends. When I arrived, I opened the back seat gathering my things and remembered Aylnn. I closed the door, started walking and noticed the rim of my car scratched up. I threw my board and started skating down to the entrance.
"Finally, where have you been?" Alice asked walking towards me with a group of friends.
"Sorry, I had to stop at my house."
I rode over to a small ramp then to the railing. I was not in the mood so I stepped on the end of my board, kicking it up to my reach. Arms wrapped around my neck from behind,
"Hey baby," I turned my head seeing Alice, giving her a slight smile.
"Hey," I tried sounding enthused but I truly knew I was not.
"Can you come over, possibly help me with my board?"
"It seems fine."
"Please, for me?"
"Okay," I walked out of here arms, turned around and gave her a kiss on her forehead, knowing exactly what she wanted.
