Our story begins in a village far from the Capital, hidden from the eyes of the emperor and the nobles. The village had no name, and its inhabitants were all members of the ninja clan known as the Shirai Ryu.

The Shirai Ryu were feared assassins that fought for the highest bidder. However, they were honorable in the sense that they always protect one another. The clan always fought to aid their brethren and bring glory to the clan. To all, the clan was their family, but none more so than it was to Hanzo Hasashi.

Raised by the clan and trained to be their fiercest warrior, Hanzo did everything to increase their glory. His father and mother were his teachers and taught him three martial arts; Hapkido, Pi Gua, and Moi Fah. He was a prodigy and learned them all within a very short amount of time.

He is an expert in using the katana blade and ninjato. However, his favorite weapon was the kunai. His mastery in the kunai rope had earned him the name "Scorpion".

He trained day and night, perfecting his form and eventually become the clans most lethal warrior. He was responsible for the death of over 57 Lien Kuei ninjas, a rival clan that has been at war with the Shirai Ryu for generations.

The Shirai Ryu was, for a time, at peace (or as peaceful assassins can get). These were the best years of Hanzo's life. But, just as all good things, it had to come to an end...

Hanzo Hisashi crawled towards a wall and sat himself up against it. The whole in his chest made his pain unbearable as everything began to fade. One thing, however, stayed clear and in focus. A pair of eyes staring into his. They held a look of satisfaction at the prospect of having just wiped out the Shirai Ryu clan single handedly.

Scorpion's eyelids began to feel heavy and close, but he knew if he did, he would never wake again. The pain began to go away though, as the weight soon began to overtake his stubbornness to die. He took one last look at the Lin Kuei dog that had decimated his family...

His eyes shot open to reveal a alien place. He sat up in the bed he was laying in, and took in his surroundings. He seemed to be in a hut of sorts, one filled to the brim with potions and alchemy ingredients placed on shelves and counters.
