Soooo... it's been awhile. Sorry bout that. Was a bit distracted with school and stuff, and just found out I have to have surgery because of this stupid thing called OHVIRA. Oh, and I had like three breakdowns because I'm stressed and I have anxiety and depression. So I get an excuse. But I have not forgotten!! I am back. So this chapter is Evan again, enjoy! (sorry it's so short)

I walk back to my house as fast as possible. Mom definitely going to be worried. If she's home. I can't remember if she's working a late shift tonight. Is she? I don't know. I kind of hope so. Then she won't ask me a ton of questions.
I look up for a moment before reaching my house. The sky is filled with stars. It's kind of beautiful. I think back to that kid, Connor Murphy. He yelled at me, helped me, then let me see his tree drawing. Which was amazing. He has real talent. I wish I had some.
I pulled my house key out of my pocket and open my front door as quietly as possible. Some of the lights are off in the house, but the kitchen light is on. I didn't leave it on. So mom must be home. I close the door, trying to be discreet. Maybe she thinks I'm already asleep.
I try to sneak upstairs as silently as possible. I've never been good at sneaking around, hence my clumsiness. So it's no surprise when, the moment I close the door to my room, my mom calls up.
"Evan? Honey?" She calls, "Are you awake?"
"Uh, y-yeah mom, j-just going to the bathroom!" I say back, quickly running around throwing on a pair of pajamas. I walk out of my room and see my mom standing at the end of the hallway next to the stairs, looking worried, still in her scrubs.
"You doing okay, hon?" She says, clutching a mug of tea close to her chest.
"Yeah, m-mom." I say, fidgeting with my cast.
She still looks worried, but lets it go, nodding sleepily.
"Alright," She walks over and kisses me on my head. She has to stand on her tip toes now. "Sleep well, okay?" I nod and look at the ground. She tilts my chin up and smiles at me. I force a smile back.
She turns and walks down the stairs. I let out a breath of relief. I walk on the carpeted hallway to the bathroom.
I slip inside and pick up my toothbrush and start brushing my teeth. As I stare at my reflection in the mirror, my mind drifts back to him for a second time. The way his hair fell on his shoulders in a lazy wave. The chipped black nail polish that decorated his nails. I shake my head to rid myself of those thoughts. It's too late for this.
I spit the foamy white toothpaste back into the sink and wipe my face with a towel. I survey my nails, bitten to stubs. I sigh and head back to my bedroom.
I slip under the covers, burying my head in my pillow, trying to force the train of thoughts to stop. I will sleep to come, so I can just stop thinking. It'll probably never happen.
His name pops into my head for a third time. Connor Murphy. A fairly common name. Though from what I've seen, not a very common person.
I close my eyes. I feel the tug of sleep pull me under, and I feel myself float away. The last thing I see in my head is his face.
