"Why can't we have some of the hare?" Rollingkit complained, poking at the mouse by her paws. Stonekit looked equally as disappointed but didn't want to complain, like his sister just did. Food is food, right? Even though that hare looked delicious. Frozenkit and Runningkit both ate their own mice, quietly and politely as Bluecreek shot Rollingkit a glare. "That hare is for Eaglepaw and her old denmates from apprenticehood. Do you see the other warriors complaining?" The grey shekit's ears pinned back in shame as she looked around camp, seeing that every senior warrior did not mind that they weren't sharing Eaglepaw's catch.
"Don't worry Rollingkit, once we go on trial, I'll bring an even bigger hare for us to share!" Stonekit mewed, eyes shining as if he had already caught it. Rollingpaw smirked, her tail flicking from side to side. "Then I'll make sure to catch an even bigger one! For Bluecreek and her friends!" Bluecreek purred in amusement at her kit's rivalry, watching as Frozenkit nuzzled into her side for warmth.
Once most of the warriors had finished their meals, Stonekit noticed as Aspensky leaped up on top of the Cold Rock, his long, brown fur looking golden in the morning sun. He lifted his head proudly to call the clan. "Cats of Frozenclan! Those able to brave the blizzards, gather under the Cold Rock for a clan meeting!"
As the cats gathered, Stonekit watched as Thorntooth, the clan deputy took his place, under the rock. The dark tom sat there, his expression unreadable as he watched Eaglepaw pad up to Aspensky, who had now leaped off the large rock. The grey shecat stood before the leader, her fluffy chest puffed out in pride, her pelt looking as soft as a baby bird's feather. "Eaglepaw," Aspensky started, his bright blue eyes staring straight at the soon to be warrior. "You have proven your worth as a warrior more than once and have been on two trials, one during the worst blizzard the clans have seen in many moons. You have fought many battles honourably and have never failed to help a cat in need, clanmate or not. It would be my honour to give you your name," Aspenstar tilted his head up towards the clear sky before continuing. "Skyclan, I call upon our warrior ancestors, so they may hear and accept this cat as a full warrior of Frozenclan. Eaglepaw, will you protect your clan, even if it means facing death?" The leader asked, his gaze meeting Eaglepaw's once again.
"I do," she meowed, her voice loud and confident, mature for an apprentice. The only thing giving away her excitement was the swinging of her feathery tail.
"Then I call upon our ancestors to give this warrior her name. Eagleperch, you have always held your ground, no matter what the situation. You are nimble and quick and always seem to have an advantage, high ground or not. Hold your name high and the winds will carry you to victory,"
After Eaglepearch had licked his shoulder, the camp had erupted with sound, Eagleperch's name ringing through the ranks. Rollingkit jumped up from where she sat, her amber eyes glowing in excitement. Stonekit could easily tell that this is the moment that she wants, being cheered for by the entire clan, under the bright sun. Stonekit purred, thinking of when he and his siblings will get their names. It will be a joyous day, filled with lots of fresh kill and lots of cheer.
