It was all over the village, everyone was talking about it.
The burning of the Cloud recesses.
Perhaps Wen Meixiao was the most angriest since Nie Huaisang told her that he went to Cloud recesses and she wanted to go too, but now the chances were low. Now she hated her clan even more.
For a while, Wen Meixiao had always wondered what it would be like to leave the clan. To have more freedom and craft demonic weaponry without any disturbances, but she would always manage to convince herself otherwise. She had been hiding her bow under her bed for a few months now, and poor Wen Ning seriously thought she had gotten rid of it.
Wen Ning had became more talkative to her, more open and friendlier because he believed Wen Meixiao destroyed the evil bow and truly saw him and Wen Qing as a family. Wen Meixiao felt truly bad for him. If only he knew the truth.
She didn't know why, but ever since she had used that bow, she felt different. At the most random times, she would feel dizzy and light-headed, or have trouble sleeping without being woken up by nightmares. In the morning, she could never remember what happened during the nightmare.
One day, she decided to tell Wen Qing how she felt about wanting freedom. "Jiejie?" She called while the elder was making medicine. "You mind if I talk to you?"
Wen Qing shook her head. "Sure, I'm not too busy."
The teen walked next to her jiejie, leaning on the table she was working on. "Well... Have you ever thought of ever leaving this clan?" Wen Meixiao asked innocently. It was supposed to be an innocent until she noticed the dark look in Wen Qing's eyes as she stopped mixing whatever she was making.
"No. Why?" She replied, finally looking at Wen Meixiao. "Are you thinking about that?"
Wen Meixiao looked at her feet. She was wearing her favourite red shoes with little gold beads at the side. "Well, I have thought about wanting to leave." She replied honestly.
Wen Qing dropped the wooden spoon she was mixing with. "Well, you can't." She was now fully turned to Wen Meixiao, who looked back in confusion.
"I can't?"
"You'll die if you even try to leave." Wen Qing lowered her gaze to the floor before looking back up to catch the younger's fearful eyes.
